I'd wager that this is true of a lot of people. Conservatives and centrists would say "it went down in 2008, with the (half) Black man".
Nah, that's just "government is evil" propaganda from the right. I put that into the same file as "Wall Street is evil" from the left.
I'm not a "government is evil" kind of guy but my experience as owning a small manufacturing company and now being in the insurance industry has certainly opened my eyes to what unnecessary regulation can do as well as the difficulty in fighting bureaucracy. And IMO, most politicians start out as wanting to to the best for the people but end up getting caught up in the power/privilege and abusing their position.
Well sure, but that's different than saying that a given occupation has mostly corrupt degenerates. I wouldn't say the latter of any occupation, although to be sure corporate lobbyists, used-car salesmen, and personal-injury lawyers, to name three trades, wouldn't score as highly for me as, say, high school teachers.
How do stop bad protesters with guns? Good protesters with guns? https://www.yahoo.com/news/armed-black-citizens-escort-michigan-013148249.html
ok because I wanted to check on update, usually we tend to lose track and forget about this things when the hype goes away. Here is an update on the shooting of former NFL player Will smith in N.O. The murderer was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years, he appealed, he was rejected, the sate has a law where split decisions are ok. He was convicted with a 10-2 vote. The US supreme court recently ruled that split decisions for "state criminal cases" are unconstitutional. So Hayes lawyers will appeal for a re-trial. https://www.660citynews.com/2020/04/23/new-trial-sought-in-saints-stars-death-over-split-verdict/
If anyone wants to listen to the best Podcast EVAH on the NRA ---> Gangster Captialism has you covered I've been listening on my Rehab walks and it has blown my mind. We all now know about the fallout between the NRA and Ackerman Mcqueen as well as the financial scandal swirling around La Pierre but that is really not the half of it. It is really amazing these guys are not in jail, but is also why they have shat their pants when NYAG announced she was coming for them ... https://shows.cadence13.com/podcast/gangster-capitalism
Who can protect us from responsible gun owners? https://www.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article243529247.html Senate candidate and former Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach had four guns stolen from his vehicle parked at a Wichita hotel over the weekend. “Secretary Kobach always has at least one firearm with him for personal protection,” his campaign spokeswoman, Danedri Herbert, said in an email. “In this instance he was transporting long guns to attend a recreational shooting event. He was under the impression that the Drury Hotel garage was under 24 hour surveillance.”
Ffs.. They have signs all over them saying the hotel isn’t responsible for items left in cars.. why did he think those signs are there? I can only hope this means he loses his conceal carry permit as he clearly isn’t tesponsible enough for it.
Drury Hotel??? Dude is on the speaking circuit and the Trump consulting team, and is staying at a Drury? Shouldn't he be able to afford at least a Marriott?
This type of shit doesn't get talked about now, except for white nationalists trying to score points, but ********ing hell, it's been decade after decade after decade with easy gun availability, leading to dead kids. Damn right this is a problem. Two teen kids dead in Chicago because they talked to another teen while they were buying candy, and that other teen was in a pissy mood, and blam. No way that happens if they guy doesn't have a gun. Maybe he smacks them around a bit. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/2-teenage...-man-tall-102656303--abc-news-topstories.html
Dumb ********ing timing. The suit, which will play out over years and years, is a total win for Trump campaign.
I know I've mentioned somewhere here before working with tons of NRA material. Ackerman McQueen was a client of a client while doing digital media archiving. I wouldn't wish to begin to drone on about the infuriating, pre-edited video and audio material I had to sit through. But early on, I was working on a tape interview with LaPierre's wife. It was some sort of promo thing going out to NRA members. The interviewer at some point asks about her favorite place to hunt. She said it was some place in Tanzania but stressed that for the sake of the audience she'd rather say Texas. And then again, asked about describing their hunting lodge, she said something to the effect of, "Well, I really want to tell you about this one, but let's talk about that one instead." All such an obvious propaganda piece to disguise their self-serving greed. Gross. But I did learn a lot about the Chickasaw Nation (by that I mean anything at all), as Ackerman is in OKC and that's one of their clients as well.
On today's news, a reup on this post If you want to listen to an awesome podcast series that is a deep dive into the corruption and insanity at the NRA - this is for you
We'll see. If discovery is opened quickly enough (and it probably won't be), then all sorts of interesting information could come out. On the surface, I may agree with you that optics may not be the best. However, if she had waited until after the election, and Trump loses, then it looks like being vindictive and some sort of "pay back."
Agreed - bad timing But also an important move The grift and fraud at the NRA is bad enough and deserving to lose their NY charitable status But some of the biggest victims of this are actually NRA members AND some of the staunchest proponents of reform of the NRA are members and benefactors According to reports, benefactors are currently withholding over 130m in donations to the NRA pending the exit of Le Pierre and installation of proper financial controls. It is this withholding of critical $$ which is one key factor in bankrupting the NRA right now
A lot of bad information is already in the public sphere I was absolutely stunned to learn about the extent of fraud and self dealing of La Pierre and the NRA board. Especially it is a terrible abuse of members who donate money and time expecting that the cash will be spent on the stated objectives and not stolen.
As I understand it - mainly what they lose is their NYC charitable status They could still exist as a corporate entity - but then of course no one will donate to them.
Maybe, but surely to God right now the Prime Directive is "Do anything you can to get Batshit out of office". With (please, Jesus!) a Biden WH backing the effort, this action would be much more likely to succeed.
Agreed, losing charitable status is basically being dissolved. From the presser: “The NRA’s influence has been so powerful that the organization went unchecked for decades while top executives funneled millions into their own pockets,” James said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. “The NRA is fraught with fraud and abuse, which is why, today, we seek to dissolve the NRA, because no organization is above the law.”
Good, as he should have nothing to say about it. NRA is incorporated in New York and subject to New York laws and New York regulations. It is a "state's rights" matter!
