Thanks for the clarification. A quick google search seemed to indicate that there were tickets being sold, but I didn't drill down. I frankly view sports and attendees as a disaster waiting to happen, but I guess we'll see. USL is going to have fans and I believe NASCAR too.
Australian Rules Football has had fans for the last two weeks. Scattered, with Families sitting together. No issues reported yet there.
Well, today Australia had 203 reported cases, the US had over 70,000. So there's that. I guess they don't test much in Australia.
Yep. They've dealt with it. Granted their situation never was gonna be as bad as ours. But being outdoors and distanced seems extremely safe with that few cases in the country. I imagine there are that many cases within a 2 mile radius of Buzzard point, and a lot of that is water.
Maybe he should start on Tuesday so we can get a lead and don't have to work from behind in the heat AGAIN. Or maybe the team just isn't good enough to do that. I guess we're on short rest again, but at least Montreal is too unlike NE last night. Win and we come second in the group I think. Maybe there's a chance for first depending on how the tiebreakers work and if they other two tie.
It's now official: Guaranteed deal through 2023 season, club-held option for 2024. #dcu #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) July 27, 2020
From the English Championship promotion playoffs . . . Brentford knocked-out Swansea 3-2 on aggregate today. So, now that Swansea will not be in the EPL next season, Uncle Jason can (for a while at least) turn his attention to the other apple of his eye: DC United. [Adler ducks]
I've heard and read about Griffin Park (with a proper English pub at each of the corners). Brentford is about to open a replacement stadium. It looks like an MLS stadium. https://www.brentfordcommunitystadium.com
Besides a small stadium, Brentford also have the 6th or 7th smallest budget in the Championship, and they have no Youth Academy, well knowing that they would not be able to attract the best youth players in London anyway. Their success is strictly based on "moneyball" and their owner also having a close connection to Danish soccer, being the owner of the Danish Champions FC Midtjylland, that on the other hand have one of the top Touth Academies in Denmark. So Brentford have a Danish manager, assistant manager and Co-Director of Football and it's squad i full of Danish players, because it's much too expensive signing good English players with all the money that is floating around in the English PL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brentford_F.C.#Current_squad Should Brentford manage to win promotion, they will share some of the almost $2 billion they will earn from a promotion with FC Midtjylland, so obviously the Danish Champions are also hoping for a Brentford promotion right now, but the other Danish Superliga top clubs not so much.
Promotion to EPL comes with a two thousand million dollar increase? That's 33% of the entire league's total gross revenue. Or are you talking about an advertising promotion between the Danish team and the English team that is going to result in two thousand million dollars? I suspect a typo or some exaggeration at play...
It was a typo, a club that win promotion can earn around 2 billion Danish Crowns, the promotion itself is worth $221 million, the rest will depend on how they do and other "side effects".
According to Goff, DC United's next two games will likely be August 21 at FC Cincinnati, and then at home August 25 against New England.
Well, Brentford fell today 2-1 to Fulham. They have lost every final they ever have participated in. At least another year until promotion to the First Division, something they last achieved in 1947. Really hoped they made it today, would have made some folks very happy who had lived with the ups and downs of that club for over 70 years.
Well, most Danish clubs will be happy that they did not win promotion, so that danish Champions FC Midtjylland do not get a share of the $221 million. It's better for the general quality of the league when clubs fight on fairly equal terms financially.
But will they let you in and, if so, will you have to quarantine? And will the US let you back in later?
Best I can tell, D.C. United's 6 matches in next phase of MLS schedule are: at Cincinnati Aug. 21; home vs. New England Aug. 25; at Philly Aug. 30 (FS1); Red Bulls home and away; and home vs. NYCFC. Awaiting details from league on in-market plans between 8/21 and 9/13. #dcu— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 6, 2020
Yes, yes, and yes. I have an Italian passport, so I can enter any EU contry at anytime; I will have to quarantine on arrival (at my sister's place). To return, I have a permanent resident card, so I can also return. But I will stay at least a month, since my job is completely stalled. In fact, I did only my outbound ticket, and then I will get the one to return closer to when I will actually return.
