    Snip:

The 17-year-old Kentucky native was the youngest member of the U.S. national futsal team that competed at the CONCACAF Futsal Championship down in Guatemala in July.

He followed that up by traveling over to the Netherlands in August for a series of trials with three Dutch clubs: Vitesse, FC Twente and De Graafschap.

    ...

With regards to Stauffer future plans, that remains unclear. While he waits to hear back from the Dutch clubs, Stauffer is heading back to school for his senior year at Shattuck St. Mary’s, the Minnesota boarding school where he’ll also play for the U18 team in the upcoming Development Academy season.

And he’s not sure what lies ahead of him after the season ends up, he’s heavily involved in the college process (he was featured in our Recruiting Insider series earlier this year) and will continue to follow up with that.

Always nice to hear about a fellow Kentuckian making an impact!! I've been away from the soccer scene in KY for a few years, as I've moved, but I wonder if I've crossed paths with Lucas as a coach. Futsal, before I moved, was really starting to take off in KY and many, many kids were transitioning from playing indoor to trying Futsal. I'm difinately an advocate for the game and it sounds like it's served Lucas well. I hope something pops up for Lucas in the pro game, now or in the future, as KY has been short on producing professionals despite halfway decent talent -- most of which hasn't been unearthed.

Here's a snippet from the club site:

Amerikanske Lukas Stauffer, der i den kommende sæson, bliver en del af VB’s U/19-hold spiller tidligt i morgen dansk tid finale om det amerikanske mesterskab for U19 mod New York Red Bulls. Kampen streames via www.ussoccer.com
Kampen spilles på Houston Dynamos hjemmebane, BBVA Compass stadium.

It looks like they are promoting his upcoming appearance for a USA youth club. As noted, this seems to confirm that he's joining VBK's U19s in the fall. It looks like he's a '95.

I think that sentence is a reference to SSM u18s playing against the Red Bull u18s in the USSDA finals a little while back in Houston.

Gets the start as Wacker Nordhausen host Erzgebrige Aue in the first round of the German Cup today.

He has an assist in 2 starts (167 minutes) in the Regionalliga Nordost to date. The club has 4 points from 2 games.

Went the distance as they give up an early led to lose 4-1. Wacker Nordhausen went down to 10 men with the score 2-1 in the 74th minute.

There are hundreds of Americans on low level Canadian teams. Should they all be here?

They should have threads only if people are interested in talking about them (which is the same rationale for starting any thread) and if they have threads they should be here. The YA forum has never been about creating an exhaustive database containing all the US-connected players in clubs outside the US. I'm sure someone has a spreadsheet for that somewhere.

If you think of Brian Bliss when you hear Carl Zeiss Jena, you’ve been in these forums for too long.
