I'd really like to see Luca play for a Championship side next year rather than go to Scandinavia or to the MLS. Is he good enough to start in the Championship? From the few times I have seen him play I think he has a real shot to succeed in the Championship but, it's hard to tell when he is mostly up against reserve sides.

The most important thing is for him to play, and so many teams in the Championship are difficult when it comes to affording opportunities to unproven players w/ so much money on the line from promotion/relegation.

It's time to move on from those upper English leagues as a result. He's bided his time long enough. Either he's got to go back to the States for a restart or get one in countries that are more hospitable to prospects like lowlands, Nordics, 2. BL, Austria, etc.

He's finally out of contract. It would be short-sighted to throw yourself back in the vortex because of short-sighted dreams, w/out effectively playing pro yet at 22 years old. He didn't go to college, but he practically did w/out getting the education..

Just remember, his EU passport doesn’t require him to be paid a huge minimum salary

Luca needs to play. Any move where he plays is a good one.

I think passing Aaronson, Pomykal, Ledezma, Saucedo and maybe even deeper mids like Williamson & Servania for a spot on the U.S U-23s will be hard, but if he plays well, you never know. I can see him perhaps passing Mihailovic

Honestly think this is a really good move for him. Certainly not a top club in that division so they're not throwing around big money for players better than him. He'll get the chance to show his stuff against the best in that division and they won't waste a chance to help him develop and be sold if he proves good enough.

Was he out of contract this summer or did Fulham tell him to hit the bricks?

I really like this move as an opportunity to get back on track in a good league.
Will it work out? I have no idea.

What I do know is that we now have three USYNT midfielders in Holland: Ledezma, Mendez, and De la Torre. I'm hopeful that at least one will have a "breakout season" in 2020/2021. My money is on Ledezma, but you never know.

Honestly for a player that needs playing time i think its a good move. I get way young US players don't go to Holland but I think its a very good league to develop or regain form in.

  22. Well, as a soccerfan I welcome players and hope they blossom in our league so we Dutch can enjoy a good match.
So welcome Luca and score a hattrick against Ajax. You will be loved to death with all non Ajax fans.
Remember Heracles didnot lose against Ajax and even beat them while Dessers made Dest look stupid. So you know what to do.
    Go and kill it.

I think this is a great move for the same reasons others have noted. Playing time in a good league where he has a chance to really improve his stock. Really hope this works out for him.
