So so first half, game is a bit slow.

He had 1 nice run past 2 defenders, otherwise not used much by his team. You see him doing a lot off the ball running into areas.

He needs to hit the gym hard this summer.

Minamino was quite active on the left and almost scored a goal today. He is receiving praise on twitter.

He played very good today despite the loss. I hope his performance in today's match will boost his confidence and help him contribute more to the team this season.

I think Klopp's approach of changing his formation from 4-3-3 to 4-2-4 really suited Minamino.

Minamino is not familiar with 4-3-3, and does not perfectly fit into one of the 3 attacking spots, but he got used to play in 4-2-4 or 4-2-3-1 throughout his career while playing under the lone centre forward and exchanging positions with him.

I don't know if Klopp will carry on this approach, or try different approaches to get the best out of his players, as he was rigid with his formation, almost never changed his traditional 4-3-3, and even when he made subs he mostly made a position by position substitutions, which made Liverpool's playing style easy to read for their opponents. This might explain the drop in Liverpool's results in the second half of the last season.

Liverpool signed Thiago Alcantara, and they are set to finalise the signing of Diogo Jota.

Jota's arrival will increase the Minamino's competition.

Shouldn't he be the back-up for Firmino?

Minamino with 2 goals in the League Cup, first was a nice curled shot from outside the box, and the other was a tap-in.

He is gradually gaining confidence by scoring in such peripheral matches.

And an assist for Origi to secure a final 7-2 against Lincoln City. They will face Arsenal in the next stage.

Still I think he had to many ball losses and sloppy play at times. But 2 goals 1 ass is good of course.

I read he hit the cross bar in the loss to Arsenal in the EFL Cup match yesterday. Too bad he couldn't capitalize.

Thanks to that huge error of him they finished kicked out of the competition where he would have a chance to start and play.
Now he will warm the bench till Community Shield Cup if Liverpool is in that competition.

After taking a 0-1 lead at Ajax, Klopp swapped out Liverpool's entire front line, inserting Minamino in the nominal CF position. He put on a lively display with 2 shots on target, and particularly notable was the interplay between Taki and Diogo Jota, the two of them frequently rotating between the center and left wing.
