This morning's Dispatch sports section has an article about the new stadium. Most of it is old news to us. One striking comment is that pricing is not publicly available. Something discussed here, with maps, since the morning existing season ticket members first began to sign up for their seats in the new stadium. Just a reminder how much better informed we can be by participating in this website and sharing what we know.
I recall that someone told Jacob Myers, who wrote that piece, to stay away from BigSoccer, advice which he says he took. Aside from a shocking lack of reportorial curiosity - an actual journalist would run, not walk, to wherever you told him not to go - I'm personally glad. It would only be us doing his work for him, and really all he (and to be fair, his predecessors) needs is the technical ability to cut and paste what the team sends over, saving him from messy stuff like doing his job, figuring shit out, asking questions, etc.
I bit the dust and went with row 1. Hope the rain and sunshine don't make me regret it. Section 211, Row 1 Seat 1.
I got the impression that most of 200 level seats would be OK from rain. The canopy plum line seems to go at least to row 1 of lower level. Obviously, rain doesnt fall straight down (maybe that could be an upgrade in CCS V3.0) but we (217 row 1) should be ok.
I'm always worried with games against Dallas where we seem to have sideways rain, thunderstorms and 2 hour delays.
Is anyone plotting all these seat location announcements so we can all consult a guide later and go visit our pals - and frenemies - around the stadium?
My group went for the most center field view available, so we're in section 213 up in the nosebleeds. The view from the seats looks totally excellent even from there.
My group kept asking me my thoughts on seat selection, I kept telling them that I prefer to watch sports from up high in the center. Not nosebleed roof touching seats- basically camera angle seats. But kids like to be near the action so we stayed down in lower bowl. Who knows maybe next year I move up there or ditch everyone and just go solo in Nordecke.
Yeah, me too. I'm trying to balance taking advantage of the roof and avoiding unnecessary stair climbing.
Thank you. I assume that puts you high enough to get the lower price. Did they sell everything in front of you already? We need to schedule a section 213 social event!
That was my second choice. I was looking at the seat right next to the camera/open space (on the 214 side of the section). They said a group bought the ones on the other side of the wall (near 212). I ended up going with my seat because of the extra leg room and no one walking or standing in front of me.
213 higher vs. 214 lower was our choice--I guess we're cheap. We had seven seats and the closest to upper deck dead center were row 15/16 in 213 or row 2/3 in 214, slightly off center. I *think* our primary motivation was being dead center and not the price difference--but the price difference of $250 per seat for being 13 rows closer combined would have been $1750. Our rep showed us both views and pretty much everyone was into 213. I had a ton of meetings right after so I haven't really had a chance to debrief yet.
Nordecke it is. I'll do my best to redirect my ticket savings toward beer garden and Crew merchandise purchases.
