There were an average of 2.57 goals scored by BvB players not named Sancho in the games Sancho did score in. By comparison, there were 1.29 goals per game scored by Chelsea players not named Pulisic in the games Pulisic scored in.
So, when Sancho is playing well he scores and assists and opens things up such that his team scores lots of goals. And this... is something to be concerned about? I'm not sure this is making the point you think it's making. 59 goals + assists in 4700 league minutes, direct goal contribution every 80 mins. That's on less than 1.5 shots per match on average. What would his numbers be if he managed to shoot 2 times per match? 70 goals + assists in ~6500 league & CL mins in his entire BVB career!
In games Kevin de Bruyne scored in there were an average of 2.67 goals scored by other players. Clearly overrated. Sancho with 6 goal contributions in 368 minutes against the top 5 teams in the Bundesliga, btw.
Probably not. I think they start with Werner-Giroud up top. When Pulisic returns, ,my guess is Werner will be the striker (assuming he looks dangerous) and Giroud will go back to the bench. Giroud is 34, he's not going to play a huge role going forward. IMO Abraham is simply not good enough and will play a smaller role next season. Unfortunate considering he started so strong; maybe he needs a loan somewhere to get more minutes to build confidence. Pulisic will have more competition for minutes but it's pretty clear the compressed schedule in this league requires rotation.
Well they just lost two wingers that covered a fair amount of minutes, collectively, and so far have added 1 winger. So, seems to be coverage related. I assume he plays on the left? Checking... he does. So RW is Ziyech & CHO, LW is CP & Benrahma & Mount in a pinch. I don't know if he's any good, or what LW looks like in Chelsea academy... but it seems to make some logical sense on paper.
Because the other option would be to get upgrades at DMs, CBs and maybe another keeper and that’s really not a way to build a winning team.
OK, but there are a lot of other commentators who seem to think that between Werner, Haavertz, and Ziyech you have at least two potential wingers. Granted, I guess Haavertz Isn’t a done deal, but reports sure make it seem like it is close to one.
I don't think there's a clear indication Chelsea are spending Havertz-level cash, and while Werner may offer cover as a winger in a pinch... he is a striker. I'd be very surprised if Frank uses him the way he uses his wingers/attacking mids. It's not impossible, but the majority of his mins should come as the 9. If they do get Havertz, I think it's gonna be hard to keep the 4-3-3, which further exposes the un-bolstered defense. Since I don't know if that's a direction Frank/Chelsea are gonna go, for me them even being interested in a productive C'ship guy points to no Havertz and a common-sense, budget cover on the wings. And perhaps some investment in the back 5. However that's assuming THIS story is true... which who the hell knows at this point. It's silly season. So we'll see.
