41.4 % is rather high indeed. I thought he was un the mid to high 30'. Having said that, I noticed that Nate has listed Rasmussen among the polls he used, not sure why either since it is. complete joke. The 50% approval from Rassmussen may have completely distorted the average and we can safely agree that Trump is below 40% at this point.

Have met bad people and malevolent people in my life, but have never encountered this toxic mix of malevolence, cruelty and utter stupidity. He is so dumb he won't even try to help himself by saying something decent about an admired individual like Lewis.

Trump seems to truly, genuinely think the pandemic is under control in the US. Hes so out of touch. He lacks a basic understanding of the problem.

Its no wonder the events of reality on the ground take over.

It's slightly more nuanced than that.

He lives inside a delusional construct. To some extent he understands that he is lying, but he is unable to confront reality. And because he is so shameless, he is able to lie, even though it is so obvious to everyone he is lying.

My suspicion is his actual perception of reality is distorted. Rational people experience events within a linear temporal narrative.

Trump seems to be unable to do basic planning to achieve future goals, and understands all events only as they relate to himself.

"Played it smart" is a good way of saying "did his ********ing job" in this case.

I don't think he can begin to comprehend someone like John Lewis. Seriously. Lewis' life and spirit are so outside the bounds of what Trump can imagine. Trump can't even see Lewis' accomplishments as accomplishments, since they didn't enrich him financially.

I think what Swan showed is that instead of letting Trump do his usual 5 minute rambling answer, it is much better to keep him off balance.

Yes - Trump only understands events as they relate to a universe revolving round himself.

Rational people are capable of abstracting and considering the life of Lewis in helicopter view. Trump cognitively cannot do this.

I couldn't watch more than a minute. It's like watching a dim kid trying to get a concept but not being able to. Unfortunately we elected this dim kid President.
Speaking of boners, I'm sure Kim Jong-un, Xi Jinping and other dictators get them on the chance of negotiating with him.

I think its clear Trump genuinely has at least a couple, clinical mental disorders. As per the DSM IV.

And I don't mean this in a, hes crazy or hes stupid way. I mean that out of genuine concern.

It also raises a question to me, that I haven't heard before.

Should Presidential candidates not be better vetted than this? Shouldn't there be some real, independent psychological assessments performed to help vet for the general public?

Because the US have given such immense power to somebody who is genuinely ill.

This could absolutely be the case, but it does assume that there aren't outlier polls puling the number down as well. I don't know how far back their average factors in polls.

I doubt his staff will let him do one on one interviews again. Wallace and Swan are not like the softball fox team last let him ramble on. They question each statement.
That’s why he likes the Rose Garden press question time, when a question is too hard for him he brushes it off and turns to Qanon. He doesn’t get any followup questions. Or he can just shut them down and walk away.

If somebody was clinically diagnosed as "XYZ"?

    You really think so?

I mean, physical health/stamina seems to have become this thing/issue in recent years for these candidates.

Jitty has described it as an operating system fail. The Constitution assumes that people will put the good of the country over whatever their selfish desires are, but enough people seemed to think that keeping Trump as President benefited them more than removing him would. The list includes wealthy Republican donors (who got their tax cut), most Republican Senators (who would have trouble being re-elected if they turned against Trump), many Republicans in the House of Representatives (who are compromised / complicit in illegal actions and will go down with the President if they are exposed), much of the Cabinet, etc. All of the failsafes that are built in to the system - impeachment, the 25th amendment, the Justice Department - are broken because the people responsible for implementing them would prefer not to.

We need at least a patch on the OS - new laws or amendments to the Constitution - to put stronger failsafes in place.

I like the way Swan acts surprised. “Oh, this is deaths per case. We’re talking deaths population!”
Then keeps him off balance. “You can’t do that.....” then “Why not?” To stop him pushing the deaths per case line.

    and those colored charts. :)

Color chart was just to describe them. Perhaps we just should have said Childish charts that were used in his morning briefing so that he could understand them.

years ago - before he ran in 2016 - it was widely recognized that he [or any person with his psychological condition(s)] constantly, subconsciously, creates a false reality within which they operate. the real world has eff-all to do with it.
