1 year. We are allowed to terminate his contract and release him a season before the end of his deal by paying out his base wages which is preferable from ending up using him and paying bonuses. If he's that far out of the picture, use the just cause justification, pay him off and release him.
Would MLS pay that much? Usually they go for older stars or stars that aren’t paid as much as Bale. Oh really? I didn’t know we had that option, good to know we can cut ties after a year.
Unless we agree to pay a portion of the salary and his new team the other portion, so effectively it comes back to what we he is earning now, for the next two years. That’s not to say it solves the problem as he might just outright refuse to leave Madrid but it would mean we’re removing a chunk of his salary on our books.
Contrary to popular belief i doubt he'll sit this out and not care about playing, so i think sitting out will irk him. There are tons of clauses to terminate a player's contract, and we can be aggressive and force the issue, but i think we'll make it clear he won't be touching a single football for us and pay him off to leave.
I don't think the club will terminate his contract. It's more likely they'll pay him out. I think terminating looks really bad on the club and sets a bad precedent.
I know, and to be honest i think the club took the distance and Bale, through his bench antics, lost his victim status that gave him a lot of protection from his own domestic media. I don't know what happened with the transfer during the summer, but the club staying quiet and not responding has been the best idea right now. Let Bale take all the attention and eventually run the narrantive into the ground.
It is noticeable right now that the criticisms of Bale himself are getting more prominent vs the usual dog piling and blaming of RM for the state of the relationship. There has been a shift now that people realize he is just willing to sit and waste years of his career. I am sympathetic to a guy who likes living in Spain and doesn’t want to uproot his family of course. But man, at that level with that much money, you could theoretically make a great life anywhere. So then it comes down to the guy’s actually desire to work hard and play the game.
Even if he regains his desire, his injury record speaks for itself. It will take more than desire to overcome that.
Yeah, I think he's just not able to deliver any more and he knows it. All the effort in the world won't change it, it will only make him incapable of being a regular human being in a couple of years. I remember Ismael stepping down from Bayern because he was barely able to hold his daughter up any more.

I'm aware. At the time we (Perez) was under the belief someone will eventually pay a transfer fee and his wages. Now that is definitely not happening with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez sucking clubs dry on huge contracts and pretty much every £100m+ transfer being not worth it; most clubs have learnt their lesson to an extent. If we can do a similar deal this time, no hesitation from Perez to let this guy go.
Those three cases (Özil, Sanches, Bale) are simply the first ones. You'll see this happening more and more because of how clubs were throwing out long term lucrative contracts to players all the time. There has been a shift in contract length in other sports, while football has been absolutely obsessed with the 5 year deal and at some point you end up paying for it.
Maybe if he had shown a little more heart, a little more passion for the club people wouldn't hate him that much. This interview sucks and his posture just says "fk you all lol"
Ozil secured the money just like Bale and doesn't mind being hated by fans or coaches. Sanchez on the other hand actually has forgone 2 years of his crazy salary to secure a move to Inter. He must be the only one with a soul out there. My club is currently trying to offload Ozil yet is rumored to be offering Willian a 3 year deal. He turns 32 in a week.
Those contracts are much different though, they are far from “guaranteed” and usually filled with opportunities for the team to release the player, take a financial hit for a year or so, and then move on.
