weird part where they talk about richards losing focus for 3-4 weeks. hope everything is good for him and his family.
The so-called weird part amounts to "a teenager, in a new country, with no parental or (extended) family supervision for the first time in his life, with significant dough in his pockets (also for the first time in his life) isn't 120% focused for the first couple of months, so the coach has a quiet word with him about not screwing up a lifetime's opportunity and he becomes a model professional". The word for that is "normal." What's weird thing is reading about that happening - more than two years ago - and then hoping things are good with him and his family.
Good article. I just want to point out the quote by Dave Van den Bergh who was the US U19 coach who pushed Richards up to Tab Ramos' U20s and, if it has slipped your mind, was also the coach who deserves credit for bringing Dest into the US Youth team system. Of Richards, Van den Bergh said IMHO, Van den Bergh is someone who's judgment should be valued.
this has been a great match for richards at bayern just by not playing. barca doing a good job overshadowing how terrible bayern have also looked at the back
Yeah... Bayern look vulnerable in the back but Barca was just downright atrocious in the back. Just in shambles. Making terrible mistake after terrible mistake. No passion... little effort. The right back was abused the entire game. He was awful.... but the entire backline and GK were awful as well. I am kind of in shock. 8-2 with time left on the clock. Ridiculous.
Bayern's Champions League results this season: 3-0 and 6-0 wins against Red Star Belgrade (9-0 aggregate) 7-2 and 3-1 wins against Tottenham (10-3 aggregate) 3-2 and 2-0 wins against Olympiakos (5-2 aggregate) 3-0 and 4-1 wins against Chelsea (7-1 aggregate) 8-2 win against Barcelona in a single game This team is scary good.
They are good, but Spurs, Chelsea and Barcelona had down years. Not to mention, both Chelsea and Barcelona had serious injury issues.
https://www.transfermarkt.us/bayern...-quot-about-talents-decision/view/news/363937 Bayern poaches an 18 year old talent from PSG that is a CB, that can play in midfield and at RB. Rated at 12 million on transfermarkt Will be interesting to see how this affects Richards this year. Maybe makes a loan move more of a reality?
There are some grumbles around Chris potentially being Pavard's backup at RB for the season too: https://fcbinside.de/2020/08/24/neu...t-setzen-die-bayern-auf-eine-interne-loesung/ We'll see. Should have something more definitive over the next week or so.
