They could change the system to accommodate all four and be really attacking, I doubt they will but they could if need be.

Is that a done deal ??

I’m amazed if he’s agreed to drop so far down .. he’s easy top 4 class .

Just needs a good defensive manager.

We're not set in wide areas by any stretch of the imagination. We have a very good front three in Rashford - Martial - Greenwood, but Greenwood is not a natural winger. We need someone who can carry a threat and create on the right, particularly as Wan-Bissaka isn't good enough offensively to carry a threat singlehandedly.

Sancho immediately improves our attack with dribbling, creativity, as well as goals from the right and gives us that much more unpredictability in terms of angles of attack. Plus, when you look at our other options in James and Ighalo; James is pacey but not technical (essentially a counter-attacking player) and Ighalo is a solid backup striker but he'll be gone in January.

    Sancho makes perfect sense.

He makes sense to almost any side but the point is, you require a cb badly, a holding cm unless u think mctomminay is good enough and a proper striker

martial isn’t good enough and Greenwood is promising but I actually think Greenwood is better on the right coming inside

unless you go for a false 9? For me rashford has to start lw

    Re: CB and DM.

I agree with you; we need a pro-active left-footed CB who is pacey and confident with the ball at his feet, but we're working on a CB signing. Matic can't start more than one game a week so we'll need an understudy to take the weight off.

    Re: Rashford and LW.

Sancho plays at RW, not LW. Our forward line would most likely be: Rashford - Martial - Sancho, with Greenwood in rotation.

Re: Martial not being good enough??

Martial was our player of the season imo and our most consistent performer. He really matured last season in terms of his goal output, hold up play, and assists.

His pace and dribbling are a constant threat, as is his movement and one touch play, plus his hold-up play has come along leaps and bounds. He's become a real asset up front.

I'm not sure where this idea that he's not good enough for United came from. His performances pre and post-Mourinho (who systematically stripped him of both his confidence and sense of belonging at United) are a strong indicator of his talent and last season it came together nicely.

People forget that he's only 24 as well. He's still improving.

    Fair enough.

I was having a conversation recently about England's squad depth and it made me wonder who England's best 11 is. Any ideas?

Correct, Man Utd aren't the ones with the leverage. It's Dortmund's player and he actually doesn't mind staying either, I don't think that statement really recognises that.

That's not an attack on United, just explaining that the statement sounds twatty.

Far too soon. Better players than him about right now and he would need to leave Brentford now

Worries me that city have signed torres, when pep was talking about foden being the perfect replacement for silva. Torres is only 20, hope foden doesn't have another season on the sidelines

Torres signing doesn’t worry me because he’s a winger. If they sign another AM like Aouar then it’s not a good sign. Foden is a central attacking midfielder for me.

Suppose so. He was compared to silva so I assumed he was an attacking midfielder

Pep doesn’t care a jot about developing Foden. He’s an egomaniac and his massive ego has taken a big dent this season with them bottling three in a row. The papers are saying they’ll go balls deep in the transfer market with Pep wanting another 5 players including a Silva replacement. There’s no way he can stomach another failure in the league like this season which would mean only 2 titles in 5 seasons. He’s a cheque book manager and always has been. He never been interested in developing young players.

Also worrying he's signed a centreback who's no better than stones. What's going to happen to harwood-bellis?

Don’t really think Solksjaer is any better to be honest. Garner, Mengi and Laird haven’t played much football this year and it’s daft not to start them tonight.

Pretty obvious that sancho would be a HUGE step up from Daniel James. The guy is awful. Still praying that he turns united down though

Dont want to get too deep into club football but not sure how you work that out. He incorporated Greenwood and Williams into the side this season and they’re now first team players. He said that he expects at least two academy players per year to make the breakthrough. Not players that will plug a gap for a few games until the transfer window opens and they’re replaced by expensive signings. 7 of the 15 players for United tonight were academy graduates. The fringe players had to play because they had next to no minutes after the restart. They may be needed if injuries occur. Garner hasn’t been good enough when he’s played and will go on loan next season because he isn’t ready for United yet. Laird has only just come back from a number of serious injuries (he’s very injury prone). Mengi got a few minutes at the end.

Sorry I did get too deep into club football but I don’t think there’s another top side around that promotes it’s academy players like United does.

Point is on Foden is that he won’t get any patience. He’ll have hit the ground running and keep running.

Yeah in fairness to Solskjaer, this is the area he has excelled in the most and I have lots of respect for him for it. I think what I like most about him is that it feels like he plays young players and academy players because he genuinely wants them to develop and not just because circumstances necessitate it. I also agree with you that Garner hasn't quite looked at the level required to be a United starter yet. I would however, say that he plays in a position where it is harder to instantly shine and where players tend to peak later.

    To empathise the point

Garner needs more time. He hadn't looked comfortable in the seniors and needs to build his confidence at a lowerr level first.
