I really respect that one of Virginia Tech's best players has opted out of the season. I would not be surprised if more players do the same. Quite a few linemen around the NFL have opted out of the season.

It's tough for college students to play this year - if they get covid and lung damage their pro career is gone.

On the other hand, the passion demonstrates how well this format is working.

 

I'd call it victory! I'd be popping champagne in the MLS offices if this happened.

I used his story just today (before they announced they were shutting him down) in response to a baseball fan who said the players have little to fear from getting COVID. The response:

Some people won't be happy until players are dying to play, literally...

 

Time for MLB to shut this down and play a short season in a bubble somewhere in a month or two.
