This is like Arsene Wenger's almost signed 11 https://www.football365.com/news/oh-look-its-an-arsene-wenger-i-almost-signed-xi. When you cast your net as wide and far as clubs like Man United and Real Madrid, you could make claims for almost signing any player. You cant sign every young prospect.
Here we go again: https://sports.yahoo.com/pulisic-100-fit-fa-cup-145055188.html pulisic claiming he is 100% and never had a real issue.
I said that same thing when I convinced my coach to let me play an entire tournament on a broken toe (granted it was the pinky toe). Id expect nothing less. To him it’s not a real issue. It was muscle related and the doctors and coach took caution because of his history. Just another article taking things out of context.
Are we in for another petulant benching? Interesting who different posters believe. I wish CP would just credit Frank publicly for everything good that happens, true or not, and just maximize his PT that way. Maybe he hasn’t had to deal with many insecure coaches before.
I think all managers (or almost all) in their first really big job are insecure. Not generally insecure as a person. It’s not a general psychological diagnosis. But insecure in that role for the first time? Absolutely. I think that is why Jurgen Klinsmann excluded Landon Donovan from the US team. I think you see it in team sports all the time when young coaches get their first big job. They are a little bit oversensitive about establishing their authority, and I definitely saw that with Frank this year. Of course, just an inference from the same facts you see. Others may make a difference inferences.
I do not think establishing the fact that you are in charge makes a coach insecure. I also do not think that dropping a player who let you down when you needed him most is necessarily a sign of insecurity either. clearly YMMV
Logically, Utd were the other club to match Dortmund's valuation of Pulisic, so it looks like Christian returned the favor in Jan 2019.
Your Mileage May Vary Edit: To clarify: In American car commercials that is such a cliche phrase inserted as a disclaimer that you may not get the mileage they are claiming that it has become a catchphrase for disclaimers in general, leading to this internet abbreviation.
given the performance of Rashford and Martial they are probably not too disappointed with passing on CP.
Number of global clubs who would complain about having one more oustanding young attacking player = 0. Even today's United.
You know that when they hype someone this hard, he's sooo much more likely to miss the starting 11. If Willian is fit, I predict CP drops to the bench behind Franks boy Mount.
Frank wants to win a trophy. Given his place on the season rankings for overall player rating, offensive player ratings, goal chances created, shot chances created, etc. -- and especially his place on those lists since the restart -- I would expect it is logical for CP to start.
Not to mention the hole they had at both ACM and RW. At the beginning of the season they were starting Jesse Lingaard and Dan James...both of whom Pulisic is easily superior to, and neither filled till Bruno arrived, and Mason Greenwood made the leap later in the season.
He should learn to say he's "feeling 100%" to leave the manager leeway in front of the media and fans.
If Frank goes 4-3-3, this will be starting 11 Pulisic-Giroud-Willian Mount-Joginho-Kovacic If it's 3-5-1, then you would expect something similar to the game against Liverpool with Pulisic on the bench. It will depends on tactic and formation.
I have a feeling that will happen as well. And, if it does, it's hard to argue against it. Pulisic has played just 72 minutes in this FA Cup run, his last start was terrible and his last sub appearance was incredible. Oh, and Mason Mount is to Frank Lampard what lasagna is to Garfield.
