Superficial reporting at best. I agree the FO at the Falcons should have been let go years ago... but to suggest the Falcons are the second favorite team is laughable.
No one, least of all the authors, are missing the point regarding the financial values of each organization. Indeed their very point is that given the Falcons' worth you'd think they'd be managed with the same all-hands-on-deck approach as United, yet mediocrity is seemingly tolerated. For Falcons fans it's a legit question. (The answer is more nuanced, I feel, and hinges on available options.)
I wonder if it's about exposure or some form of a global ego with Blank? No doubt that the Falcons are worth more, but, while the number is not a lot, more people around the world heard about FDB being fired than if he would have fired the Falcons HC. Atlanta FC could possibly sign Messi and Ronaldo and the Falcons can pretty much only sign a famous American football player that few people outside of our hemisphere have heard of. Or . . . it could be this simple. Not counting pre-season, free agency and the draft, the NFL is a 4-5 month season, Atlanta FC is in a 9-10 month season playing in MLS.
