From the highs of a goal and assist against the league champions til the lows of performing badly against a club challenging for a European spot. Thank god the PL starts again in 7 weeks.
The thing about top teams in top leagues - you need a smattering of "game changing" players - somebody is going to run out gas, have an off day, get a flu bug, or run into a bad head-to-head match-up some days. Today, if we take off our RWB colored glasses, Mount, Giroud stepped up while CP had a pedestrian game. The boot was on the other foot a few games ago. It's how it happens. Expecting any player, including CP to be MOM every game is destine to frustrate. I'm impressed Chelski managed to get the result they needed. I expected them to drop points and have ManU still save their sorry arses...
I thought he put Wolves on their heels a number of times and pulled them out of shape a bit. He's not super-elegant at all time, but sometimes his straight at it style fits.
Lettuce be real that game was largely an abomination. Almost no offense from either team for very large stretches. Wolves are a good and organized side who don’t concede a ton. Edgy game where both teams had a lot to play for. Only thing separating them was a dodgy foul call and an excellent free kick and that break down in first half stoppage time. Other then that, not much offense. CP did have a chance late on from the left side of the 18 which he could have scored but that’s life. CP wasn’t crisp but credit to Wolves too.
He's a good young player. It's a shame that he is the villainous "Anti-Christian" here on big soccer. Also, I think that he and CP kind of compliment each other in a yin yang kind of way. Mount takes up tons of space on the pitch, is strong on the ball and can take shots from distance. Pulisic, on the other hand, is a dribbler who is incredibly dynamic and can create all sorts of havoc for defenses. They both have very high work rates.
Chelsea really does have an endless budget don't they... about to buy the league again now that Lampard has made top 4 and gained the Russian mobster's trust. And City has basically set the precedent that FFP doesn't mean anything.
Not exactly Christian's best game, but he still had a NASL assist and won a number of free kicks. We are all overly worried he might get benched from one bad game... He was good, but this is great: So @ChelseaFCinUSA's @masonmount_10 has known how to strike a ball from a free kick for a while now ... pic.twitter.com/lABymklCVO— Roger Gonzalez (@RGonzalezCBS) July 26, 2020
I mean their coming off a year ban where they couldn’t spend. They also got 150 for the sales of Hazard and Morata burning a hole in their pockets. They spent 2/3s of it. They could also go out and spend 100 plus with no sales no issue.
Let me make sure I am hearing this right: "I try to base my free kick on Ronaldo. Hit the ball by the valve and it moves." So, he is hitting the ball at the air valve? Cool.
Not sure Wolves are a club "at the highest level" and besides, playing good defense has nothing to do with "gamesmanship".
You got that right Imorin. Like a kid who keeps trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Guess they don't teach Problem Solving 101 at the Teenage Soccer Phenom Academy.
They spent a fraction of what City and Man U have. Man U spent about 200 million to squeak into the UCL. And this Wolves squad is def one one of the top 10 defenses in europe.
Chelsea actually has a fairly straight forward way of balancing their books. Unlike Man U and City who just spend spend and spend. FFP actually changes how Chelsea does business even if they didn’t really need to.

That seems to be more a list of "players who looked good when they were available," because it has a number of players who started 20 Premier League games or less this season (Kante, Pulisic, Laporte, Bruno Fernandes). The typical season-end Best XI tends to be limited to players who started a lot more games than that. But if that's the criteria they used, Pulisic isn't out of place there.

It was youth transfers and a lot of grey in the rules. Several of the items were actually overturned. They chose to challenge the claim but accept the ban.
It was also the only time the ban was stayed while on appeal. Pretty much every other club who appealed had the ban stayed/reduced.
