Wrong. Prince had position and Colaprico ran right up her back. IF there was a foul it was on Colaprico.
45+2' (of +2') 1-0 Watt crosses from arc top right to 6-left foot, nobody there. 45+2' (of +2') 1-0 Daly chases ball down at midfield left touch, turns and kicks a long pass to box top left for Visalli's run. Naeher reads that, wins the race and clears into near touch. HT 1-0. Chicago's short-passing is mostly to static targets who turn-and-run, but aren't already running. Houston are more willing to speculate on longballs to lone runners. Houston 4(1)-(1)5 shots(sog), 1-3 corners, 6-8 crosses vs. 11-6 clearances, 1-3 offsides, 2-6 fouls, 54% possession.
But she backed into the offensive player. If she just held her ground you would be right but by backing into the offensive player's run she committed the foul.
46' 1-0 Whoops, we return from this replay to rejoin the 2nd half, in progress! they missed the 2H kickoff. Chicago cross from the left, hold at box top center, pass wide right. Deep cross to 6m center, headed away. Houston outlet to Daly, up to circle top left, back to Daly at circle center, Groom, Prince up box right, 1/2 step ahead of St. Georges through box top right. Prince continues to 12m, shross cleared over by Gorden. 47' 1-0 Houston right ck, to 9m center, Naughton heads to crossbar center, Naeher pushes it just over bar. 49' 1-0 Chicago send in a couple more crosses to contested headers. 50' 1-0 Daly bounces off McCaskill(?) at circle back (her) wide right, does a head-plank whilst holding midsection, is slow to get up. 50' 1-0 Daly joins the attack, shoots from arc top right to 1/3 left, Naeher catches.
Hill must not be very smart. She keeps walking into an offside position and she rarely corrects. She can see the entire line and just waits in that offside position until the ball is passed and then gets called offside. That makes defense easy.
53' 1-0 Oyster to Schmidt, sliding poke to Prince at midfield right touch, prompt turn-and-pass up wide right for Daly 1-v-2 on Gorden. Gorden wins that race by 1/4 step, backpass to Naeher. 53' 1-0 Daly switches to Prince through arc top box right, 1-v-1 on St. Georges caught backpedaling. Prince cuts inside past St. Georges, to box top mid-left, she inexplicably blasts a cross way over 6-left foot. 54' 1-0 McCaskill receives at 9m wide left, stabs a ground pass to Watt at 10m 6-left. Watt turns and drives to 10m center, shoots right instep up centerline, ball deflects off Oyster's foot and pops up softly to Campbell. 55' 1-0 Watt taps into Hill's run to 15m left post, quick shot to 1/3 left low, Campbell saves. 56' 1-0 Hill receives at 10m wide left, but offside.
Hill makes a good pass to the goalkeeper. Someone needs to inform her that you are supposed to miss the goalkeeper when she shoots. But at least she hit the goal which is better than a lot of players do.
Chicago looks like a team that's needing some offensive players right now: Gautrat, Nagasato, and Short are missed. I mean, they're missing Kerr, too, but that ship has sailed.
Rachel Hill should be pay a little more attention: it's the second time in this 2nd half she's off-side by a thousand miles.
59' 1-0 McCaskill turns at 30m center, drives a rare medium-long ball into 8m wide right for Watt about twice as far from it as Chapman. Chapman does just enough to meet Watt at the ball , passes square left to Naughton. 61' 1-0 Colaprico does a good receive-and-turn to circle right, hits a long switch to box left, Hill offside. 61' 1-0 Yellow card on Chicago's bench. Not on HC R.Dames, on the other guy. 62' 1-0 Daly nutmegs St. Georges at 27m wide right, rounds her on the left, St. Georges tugs her back, Daly goes down. Foul, no card. 63' 1-0 Daly fk at 25m wide right, outswings past 2m 2-right, too far for Hanson(?), bounces over endline left.
Daly with a nice twisting tap shot at close range, and given the Dash their third corner kick this half. Corner kick hits a Dash mark but the shot goes over easily.
Brianna Visalli is attracting a lot of fouls of her: I am not surprised if she's listed as injured or questionable, if she always does that! No holds barred defense from St. Georges.
I'm on the side of saying Ertz is more needed on the backline for her club, especially with Davidson out. But, I think we're getting to the point that you've got to take a risk and move Ertz up into the midfield. Chicago needs some kind of change here.
Hill gets fouled just outside the box. The free kick is saved but it was right down the middle. Easy save for the goalkeeper.
64' 1-0 Gorden underhits a backpass to own box top left, Naeher races Prince to it, they bump torsos and Naeher comes away with a mild limp. 65' 1-0 Houston win ball in deep right corner. Daly receives at box top mid-right, St. Georges steps up, Daly drives endline past her to 14m mid-right. Shot blocked by Gorden, over endline right. 65' 1-0 Kizer right ck, to 7m 1/3 left, Naughton jumps leaning backward and heads high over bar. 67' 1-0 McCaskill fk at 23m 6-right, right instep bend low over the wall to 2/5 left just under crossbar, Campbell blocks it onto the roof.
I was actually looking in my mind for a more common hyperbole for "off-side by a lot", by I couldn't come up with anything else: any suggestion?
Some stats flashed on the screen in shots and possession so far; the two teams are pretty even on both accounts now.
68' 1-0 Chicago subs in { 1st of 3 }: - (1 of 5) #32 Zoey Goralski for #28 Kayla Sharples. 69' 1-0 Hanson long clearance up wide right, nobody in Chicago's entire 1/2 but Naeher, who comes way out to 30m box right to collect. Outlet pass to Ertz at circle center, Kizer pokes ball away! Backpass, return pass to Groom at circle center, she exposes ball a tad and Ertz pokes that away. 71' 1-0 Chapman outworks Hill for a bouncing ball, slides forward almost out of control but blasts it off DiBernardo's shins(?), into far touch. DiBernardo gets up slowly. 72' 1-0 Chicago backpass to Naeher way up at 35m center, she distributes up the left.
As great a player as she is Ertz always makes at least one bad gaff in each match. Usually she recovers and makes up for it BUT it is better to have that gaff in the midfield than it is to have it at the back.. Her good creative play needs to be further upfield so she can actually help the offense more.
