You have to say it was a great try by Mendes. In terms of pure technique it was arguably better than Beckham's and Nayim's goals. He had no time to control it and was coming in from the side, just swept it up sweetly and on target.

FA Cup at home against Brighton this weekend, then Chelski at home weekend after.

Still on a now 8 game unbeaten Premiership run and with time over the next week to get our injured attackers fit and the new players settled into the squad.

After the misery of last season, it's wonderful to see a team in our colors with fighting spirit and defensive organisation, to grind out results even when they're away from home and under pressure against strong teams. Add to that the occasional spankings we've been dishing out to the likes of Everton and Southampton, and its shaping up nicely for a good 2nd half to the season.

True but what an utter gaff. LOL Roy. Mendes looks decent, Spurs brought that "bus", but we had no ammo to break it down. You should have still won, well played to Spurs, can you beat Chavski now please?

can't really agree here - at least not wholly. at chelsea, yes. but not so much today, in my opinion.

granted, for the first hour, or so, we didn't get too many forward, and we relied on (fairly poor) long balls in the final third to unsupported targets. but as the game moved on, in the last 30+ minutes, i thought we moved the ball about - and forward - with a bit of conviction, actually.

i won't argue that spurs were the better side today (though we did put the ball in the goal more often), but as it went on, the gap in ambition, i thought, narrowed considerably. and this when, you might think, the closer we got to earning the single point, the less inclined we might have been to get forward.

i don't mean to sound critical of what was essentially a gracious post, and certainly there's a grain of truth in our reluctance to commit numbers forward early. but i suspect that old trafford will witness some far more negative performances in the upcoming months than this.

We was without our number 1 strike force, we dont have the money to spend £12m on a reserve player. Man U have 4 strikers who cost a total of £50m+ Our team that played against Man U cost a total of around £14m with Robbie Keane costing £7m of that.

We went to Old Trafford & could have won, we have come a long way since Jol took over.

Well you should have won with that weird goal/great strike. We can't do much with all those players missing, Bellion is wank, so you only had Smith to cope with. I don't think money matters if you originally find good players, as you already have, it just happens that if someone with real talent comes along we would go in for them if possible.

I'm in a good mood. I just came back from my school winning against our rival in their house in basketball.

I am home. I'm in the best ********ING BigSoccer board. Where the ******** do you think you are? I have every right to be upset after that ref ass ********ed us out of 2 points. The last thing on my mind is what Man U fans from London think about what I'm typing.

    You get home, bitch.

Mendes IS decent. He was the only player that really stood out for me when i took an off the cuff visit to WHL to watch them lose 2-1 to Bolton.
Spurs have come miles and miles since that day, i'm glad/sad to say.

This whole incident is unfortunately gonna overshadow what I thought was a great overall performance by Spurs at Old Trafford.

King and Robinson were super, a 9.5 out of 10 for both.

Mendes has and continues to be a rock in the mid-field. While its easy to sing his praises now, I've always liked his attitude and performances and over the past 8 games he's won me over as my favorite Spurs player (Did anyone see Mendes on SkySports afterwards? After watching the video, he actually laughed it off and made a couple jokes about it; better than carrying a grudge against the refs the rest of the season).

Carrick continues to progress and had a great game. Keano did what he could. The rest of the back line was as good as you could ask them to be.

Ziegler and Marney looked like teenagers without much experience in the Prem. but thats exactly what they are -- having said that, they both had some exceptional moments and over-all I'd rate them as having played competent overall with lots of promise.

Again the only one I didn't rate was Ricketts. At best he looked competent. Jol had little choice to put him in and luckily he didn't cost us a goal.

As for 'the incident' -- love Spurs or hate Spurs, you gotta watch watch that and grimace -- if it could happen to Spurs, it could happen to your team as well. Something needs to be done.

Wow we were bent over and raped really hard. I honestly am shocked that this sport doesn't have video referees like heaps of sports do (Rugby League, Union, Cricket etc.)

It is honestly a seamless transition and it barely slows the game down at all. If not Video refs at least get goal mouth referees to watch the goal line at each end.

This is the year 2005, not ********ing 1928.

What ********ing wank, then Furgy has the gall to rave on about Rios 'penalty'. Grow some balls man and admit you should have lost.

I would condone rioting at the next home game right now :) :D.

Very pissed off by the horrible call but happy to see the team play well.

Yes we played defensive at times but with no Kanoute and no Defoe on the road at Manure did anyone really think we were going to open the attack up??

Lets just hope a call like this will get the ball rolling for video replay or at least two more refs on the goallines at all times.

This actually reminds me of the NFL where a couple of years ago the Oakland Raiders were cheated out of a playoff game to the New England Patriots and the bad call lead to instant replay that is for the most part fast and very effective and adds more complexity to the NFL(when to use your challenges)

Unlike the NFL the FA doesn't act alone and probably couldn't institute video replay without the blessing of FIFA -- if I remember correctly the feeling of the FIFA folks was that if the Div. III in Madagascar can't institute video replay, then the Prem. can't have it either.

Proud of the team and our 8 game, 6 win undefeated streak. If those two points are the difference between Spurs getting intio Europe, my anger is gonna re-ignite once again over this whole thing...

Being a referee, and having worked with more than a couple of incompetent morons, I don't know that ANY of those unacceptable officials I have worked with would have missed that call.

The 2TL defender is only 30-35 yards out, at the most, and the ball takes a good 3.5 to 4 seconds to cross the line. An in shape referee should be able to run 20 yds in 3 seconds, that should put him about 10-12 yds off the goal line, and that's if he's older and slower than me. I have watched the replay imagining myself as the linesman, and picturing where I should be on the field, estimating how fast I can run (which isn't very), I can't really see how I would not be close enough to be in position to make the call. The only possibility is that Roy's body perfectly shielded the linesman from being able to see the ball, or the linesman was way out of position...... like out of the stadium!!!

I have never seen anything like that. And to compound things, the center calls a foul in ManUre's penalty box and then moves the ball outside the penalty area, like that helps. I mean, if you've got your dick up my ass, you might as well go ahead and ******** me good and hard.

Was gutted last night, and thankfully the pub was deserted of all those dodgy cockney Man Utd fans. Now feeling apathetic. What can you do?

The FA will introduce chipped balls, perhaps at the lower divisions first. Rumour is that a chipped ball will be used in the Carling cup final. Fat lot of good that will do us now though.

That was the worst non-call of the season. You guys were robbed. It doesn't matter who you support, missed calls like that always sting.
