Meh. I like Pipita and he was an amazing league player, but a choker he is whether people like Messi or not. He has had a few "incidents" at the biggest and most important moments and his incidents have resulted in his team not winning Messi disappearimg act does not mean Higuain didn't flop in those moments. Now as a league player, dude was amazing
And i will never forget the League titles he scored us into. The fans absolutely adored him, and i consider him th emost lethal striker we've had in domestic competitions beyond Ronaldo. Therein lies the problem for me: It's not him being a choker or anything of that sort, Benzema was just wildly more compatible with Ronaldo. Higuain actually outscored Ronaldo in the League in their first year together in low numbers for Ronaldo but it was clear that for Ronaldo to reach his potential we'd have to drop Higuain.
Got a lot of love for Pipita. One of my very favourite Real Madrid players. Watching him develop into an elite striker after arriving as a teen was a lot of fun and hopefully we see that happen with Vini and all of our other young talents.
Chill down. I never called him a choker. I really liked him because he gave his all when he played for us. I just remember the game against Lyon because he got criticized so much.
I'm pretty chill, we're having a normal discussion. Everybody liked him. That is my point. We had an attack that needed a sign of life and he arrived and he attacked and played like a maniac. Vinicius has the same "edge of your seat" effect to our team right now.
Yeah but he wanted to leave. Benzema would be first choice and Higuain wanted to be a starter. He made a good choice and became one of the best strikers in the Serie A.
I think Higuain is a traditional goal scoring 9, he and Ronaldo were having comedy club moments at times where they were colliding going after the same cross. It was never going to work with them long term, but my Vinicius comparison is based on the impact, than the player. they are completly different players, but it's the same chest thumping feeling we had with Pipita when he first joined us. You can tell that he wanted it, and we needed that.
Yeah, I do love Higuain and his desire and heart really showed and helped bring in a new era in the history. That said, I think he had like 8 CL goals in 7 years; and as good as he was in everything else; hard for me to look past those numbers.
On a world class scale, I agree. The problem is that nostalgia makes people forgetful, the same way that Gago was apparently excellent for us for 4 seasons...
It's amazing. We have people who will never let go of Benzema's horrible start even though he has beem a great servant for years lol.
Higuain is hands down a top 10 CF in his generation, zero questions asked. You have Lewandowski on top, Suarez right there, Aguero, probably Cavani and Benzema after them, and then you go down the list of players and you only have a Diego Costa there. Falcao was great but overall he missed out on too many years due to injury to put him ahead of Higuain in body of work. If Vinicius turns out one of the best 5 to 10 players in his position when his career is going towards the finish line, we can all agree that he was a success.

Alternate Angle of Vincius' dribble from last night. Simply amazing...https://t.co/ARJzKyR0Uf— Daily Madrid (@DailyMadridcom) July 17, 2020
As beautiful as that dribble to get past 3 defenders with nowhere to go, the recognition to not force a play when he got to the last defender, turn him around, then play a sweet ball to Asensio was the best part.
Don't want to make short work of Vini's brutal movement there but am I the only one noticing that Asensio has been kind of balling since returning, and maybe possibly presenting a striker option even?
