There are some posters here who might be centrists and not as critical of Trump as they could be. The longer you're here, the more of that you'll notice. I don't really know Yoshou's posting history, but if OFE does, I'm willing to take him at his word.

LEOs don't need to be delivering anything to anyone. Let's leave them out of this entirely.

Yeah, Polish jokes were very en vogue when I was growing up. Most of them where along the lines of Poles stealing cars or Poles being poor, mostly stealing though. When I visited Hungary through a student exchange program I realized that they had the exact same jokes with Gypsies (their words not mine) additionally to the jokes they also hated them fiercely which wasn't the case with the Polish at least not where I lived.

I only recently heard a Polish joke it felt horribly antiquated. I think this was the first Polish joke I have heard in over 15 years. I thought that had died out but maybe it's just my social bubble.

Government mandates are necessary though. Because then workers have legitimate and legal reasons to not show up to work.

If a shutdown is out of fear by citizens, some (not all, but many) will still have employer battles regarding their employment status.

I'm thinking those with salaried positions mostly. Not those paid by the hour.

If the federal government was actively trying to get as many Americans sick as quick as possible, would it look any different from what they're doing now?

Guys I know all of this. I'm a fan of shutdowns too. Even despite the government abdicating responsibility, we will still have slower virus spread than Feb/March. All I meant.

I did not mean anything to Yoshou. Among my (particularly Black) friends who are Trump detractors (I am Black, for the poster to whom JohnR is replying to), we say that as a friendly swipe at each other. "Yo, why don't you get YOUR president under control." "Your president is at it again." Etc. I made the mistake of using it in a forum which, by virtue of the anonymity, might not understand it was nothing more than the way I talk.

I do that as well. I had a friend who's a Tuskegee grad, and after they invited both Reagan and Clarence Thomas to speak there, I ragged him mercilessly about it. "Your boy Reagan (did this or that today)". He'd get upset when I reminded him that they weren't really an HBCU at all, between those invites and BTW's Atlanta speech.

This is an absolutely horrible way to describe folks who aren't stupid enough to leave home needlessly.

Realizing that the best way to stay healthy is to stay tf home isn't "panic". They're not "hiding", they're making a wise decision not to risk exposure for no good reason.

Talk about not thinking before you type.

My grandmother is in Florida. A while back she was tested for COVID when she had to go into the hospital for some unrelated issues. She tested negative thank god.

But with the way things are, I don't know when I'll see her. She understands why, she thankfully lives out in the rural parts of Florida. But with the way they're handling things, I'm not going down there for the foreseeable future.

I've been mad and pissed off the last few days. At the people who voted for Trump because hey, what's the worst that can happen? At the years of conservatives being assholes and no one showing some steel to them. At the assholes screaming about their so called medical issues (Bullshit) with masks, and just the way people are behaving. Now, we need actual leadership and instead it's full of idiots who know nothing more than own the libs.

I hope there's a reckoning for these people. These people don't really deserve a shot at running things again after all this.

So because other people are being dumbasses we should as well? ******** that, we’ll keep wearing our masks and social distancing and I’m happy we live in a place where most others continue to do so as well.

As far as I’m concerned at this point the willfully ignorant should kill each other off as quickly as possible, and I just hope they don’t infect too many innocent people just trying to do their jobs along the way.

A local representative in the town I grew up in is posting dangerous COVID views.

I knew three of his kids, I am friends with them on Facebook, I am tempted to share the post, tag them, and ask if they're proud of their dad for this. I knew their dad growing up.

I'm going to do a hit and run here to give you all a data point to possibly discuss. I compared the infection rate for Washington state counties that voted for Clinton in 2016 compared to Trump using data provided by Worldometer for infections and Wikipedia for county population estimates (2019).

The 12 counties that voted for Clinton, representing 73.2% of the state's population, had 24,779 infections as of this morning (54.4% of the state total), for a rate of 444.6 per 100,000.
The 27 counties that voted for Trump, representing 26.8% of the state's population, had 20,780 infections as of this morning (45.6% of the state total), for a rate of 1,018.0 per 100,000.

Significantly, in many pandemics (malaria excluded), urban areas have higher rates of infection, but that is not the case here. While there are limitations to this type of analysis, given we don't know the specific voting pattern of the people who are infected for one, the results are nonetheless suggestive of a Republican/Democrat divide. The results could be explained by Trump supporters appearing less likely to wear masks and take precautions. I'm sure @American Brummie will be happy to tear the analysis to shreds, but I view it as a starting point to further exploration.

Regardless, enjoy and I will now once again go into hiding. I just thought some of you might find it of interest.
