I said a while back I thought his goal was to use Arsenal's supposed interest to get a new contract at Atletico. Why else would his agent leak that Arsenal was going to triple his wages?

    Leno?

    I'd do it.

Not sure if Leno was a Sven signing. Even if he was, I don't think Stuttgart could afford Leno assuming we were willing to sell.

Honestly, im ok with the Partey news. The more I think about it and read about linked players the more I like the idea of signing Dani (permanent or another loan with an option) and then snagging Marc Roca. You start with Xhaka/Dani at CM and by midseason I'd bet we would be running with Roca/Dani. That would give you a strong, young base to work with for the next several years. Add some young depth for rotation & development and the MF would be in better shape.

If Ceballos is 25m in a pandemic how much would he had cost in a normal circumstance? Either way, do it

Updated links to Depay. Contract expires next summer (like PEA) and he has so far rejected all attempts by Lyon to extend. It is claimed that Lyon would be looking for 30m euro and that Arsenal & Everton have expressed interest.

I mentioned him previously but I really like the idea of adding Depay, assuming we sell Lacazette. He has the versatility to play as a LW, SS or AM. Allows you to slide PEA to ST with Depay & Pepe on the wings or slide him down to a #10 spot (in a 4-2-3-1) and bring Saka in. Its a bit of a risk given his injury (which is being reported that he is fully recovered from) but he contributed 14 goals and 2 assists in 18 appearances this season before getting hurt. The 2 seasons prior to this... 12g16a in 47app, 22g17a in 51app.

You are in charge of a European club. You have 25m euros to spend and you need a midfielder. Do you buy Ceballos, Roca or Guendouzi?

If you choose Ceballos or Roca, at what price would you start to think it would be best to buy Guendouzi and pocket the savings?

What do you think Duezy is gonna cost? I've seen 30-40m euro thrown around in different places. Dani supposedly would cost 25m euro and I've seen anywhere from 15-25m euro suggested by different sources on Roca.

Duezy - Likely has the most upside given his age but does his maturity level present an issue. At the moment his best role is likely a b2b CM. Good at turning and getting the ball up the field but needs work on positioning, defense and ball distribution.
Dani - Closer to a finished product but with room to develop. He's kind of a DLP/b2b CM. Good dribbling, ball distribution and a willingness to get back on defense but could use some work on his tackling.
Roca - More of a holding/defensive CM. Not a big powerful DM but strong in positioning & tackles and good distribution of the ball. Not gonna be much of a goal threat.

So the question is, what do you need and what do you already have? Each brings something entirely different to the table.

Think Guendouzi would cost more than 25m given his age.

That's not what I'm arguing. If your club had 25m to spend, independent of specific skillset needs, would you rather get Ceballos, Guendouzi or Roca?

Conventional wisdom from Arsenal fans is that Ceballos for 25m is good value, Roca would be a good buy for 20m, and Guendouzi sucks and is overvalued and should be sold for 35m. What if other clubs see the same thing Arsenal fans see?

I get your point. I personally don't think Duezy sucks. If not for his attitude issues I would be more than willing to see him stay and develop. As is, I think it would be best to move on. Last summer there were rumors of PSG coming with 50-70m. I don't expect to get that but I would think anything less than 30-35 would be completely laughed off. His age & potential is too high to under sell.

He wasn't referring to what Arsenal would do. He is referring to what would you do as manager of Generic Euro Club if you were looking to add a single CM to your roster.

Douzi would never normally be sold as he is an elite young midfield talent - but if we have to sell him due to a fall out he will still raise high money as such players are never normally on the market

Arteta making noises about transfers. Lots of noise about players not being good enough.

Arteta can't afford to let his managerial career end before it starts. He will not suffer this crap without a fight. I actually think he may resign in protest within 18 months.

I don’t see the club backing him like they should, so I agree with this. He will continue to call them out, but it will get him fired rather quickly.

And his players might turn on him after too many “not enough magic” comments, thats what happened w Mourinho during his last year at Chelsea.

Kroenke has spent a lot of money acquiring Arsenal and it's possible that Covid plus being mid-table would cost him a lot of equity. It's not gonna change because he's terrible at picking staff. Our upper management in the last 15 years has been a collection of empty suits.

    GK - we are good
CB - Holding and Chambers are worth keeping
    FB - Tierney
CM - Dani, Willock needs games if we think he is a CM
I think generally we are stacked at Attack but they don't all necessarily fit together

What was most frustrating about watching Arsenal play is that they have seem to have decision paralysis. Watch Liverpool play if they don't have a forward pass they make a one touch pass to the relief man, but it has to be one touch or they are immediately under pressure, and are going to cough up the ball talent can only do so much.

Ironically that's how we scored our goals, horrifying lack of movement at the back for Liverpool.

    I'd tend to agree.

Assuming we pin our hopes on Saliba, we need an elite CB and a top class 8 as the highest priorities.

I'd unload Laca but now he got too old its probably hard to do.

It is a worry how this team will create goals though.

I'd sell Douzy, Bellerin, Sokratis, AMN and maybe one more kid.
