I was just looking over Red Bull Salzburg's managerial history, and I noticed that no Red Bull manager (regardless of their level of success) has stayed at the club for more than 2 seasons, with several only staying for 1. The last Salzburg coach to stay for longer than 2 seasons was back in the early 90s. So very likely, Marsch's next season at the club will be his last, assuming he doesn't leave for greener pastures even sooner than that.
i definitely had stars in my eyes, thinking marsch might happen here. but I get the impression that some posters here think that jesse needs to prove he can coach at the other end of the pitch (solve salzburg's defensive problems) before stepping up to the next level.
Red Bull Salzburg will enter the 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League in the play-off round instead of advancing straight to the group stage as they did this year.
Couldn't find anywhere with historical stats for the Austrian Bundisliga. Does anyone know what the record for team goals in a season is. Salzburg's return this year has been fantastic
German media outlet Kicker is reporting that Jesse Marsch is a candidate for the coaching job at Hoffenheim next season. Clearly a lot of interest in the American head coach, will be interesting to see when he makes his next move #USMNT #OneGoal pic.twitter.com/SQLZNFlq84— OneGoal (@OneGoalUS) July 13, 2020
That's shocking to me their manager got canned after 1 year where they finished 6th, in the midst of a rebuild. On paper that's a great fit for Marsch - young, development club, mid BL table - but that's not a board w/ reasonable expectations, spoiled by Nagelsmann. Jesse would have to deal w/ that too. Would need to make the UCL at Hoffenheim to be safe?
They went 5-2-2 in the restart, too. If they planned on sacking him at the end of the season, it's a little odd that they kept him for that period.
Nagelsmann left Hoffenheim a year ago to go to Leipzig. Schueber or Schroeder or something like that was the coach. Hoffenheim were pretty good this year. I'm not sure what expectations are there.
Hoffenheim made the change due to philosophical differences between coach and sporting director. They had different views on how they wanted to build the team
i guess 2 seasons is all 1 needs. It wouldn't hurt to do 5 seasons and rack up a ton of trophies and turn them into some kinda force in the Europa League.
Marsh hopeful to coach the USMNT someday: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...y-hopeful-someday-coach-us-mens-national-team
He needs to focus on his club career and achieve some things. Wait until after the 2026 WC or 2030 WC.
friendly vs liverpool in the context of the scare salzburg put into them in the champions league is pretty interesting and also knowing that klopp has put an expiration date on his time at anfield.
anyone who knows a good stream for this salzburg / pool friendly let me know! guessing with who owns liverpool it wont be provided free of charge on youtube like most of these.
Not watching, but apparently Marsch is giving Klopp a masterclass in motivation! RB Salzburg 2-0 Liverpool @ halftime.
FWIW Both teams are fielding strong lineups. Liverpool for example is fielding this Alisson Robertson-Van Dijk-Gomez-Williams Keita-Fabinho-Wijnaldum Mane-Firmino-Salah
this was a lot of fun. rbs certainly dont give a shit who liverpool are and play them hard, which klopp probably outwardly fumes about and inwardly sees as a great prep for the season when clubs come looking for scalps and not jersey exchanges.
