Agreed, and I’ll say again, who’s to say his coach didn’t inform him not to be so tentative to just enjoy himself therefore making him feel more comfortable on the pitch, rather than just thinking about not losing the ball and not being aggressive enough, that seems pretty plausible to me, afterall that’s the coachs’ job
One of the things I admire most about Vinicius and Rodrygo is their first touch, it’s not something that’s easily thought. Fair enough, although Rodrygo’s passiveness on the right didn’t begin with Geta and Bilboa. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one, this is not only a Rodrygo deal btw, most wingers are can do more/are more dangerous when playing in an inverted.
Rodrygo has been passive on that right side for a while now though it didn’t just start last week, are we to believe that it is only now that Zidane gave him this advice? I guess it’s plausible but I don’t see it, he’s simply playing in a position he’s more comfortable in, he plays like this with Castilla constantly and if you look at most of his goals with Santos they start with him coming from the left.
I think we must remember that guys like Rodrygo, Vinicius, Fede are still young and are playing for the biggest club Real Madrid. This is not always easy and are still learning. At the age of 20 Modric was still in Dynamo Zagreb. Do you really think he was playing at this level back then? I doubt it very much.
This is false. Rodrygo has been passive on the left as well. This is what I mean when I say I actually followed this kids career and didn't just tune in when Madrid was linked to him. The kid best game for the club came from him playing on the right. Some how because we are bi-polar with the memory of goldfish on this forum; we easily forget.
Who really knows, maybe what we thought was passive ZZ was fine with up until that dire game against, Getafe was it ?, maybe he does prefer the left side and it’s all positional as you think, I have also seen him do well on the right in his earlier games for us, where did he play vs Gala where he got a hatrick and an assist?, or maybe Rodrygo himself just decided, “ I better up my game and show more” , as I said, who knows.....
This is getting circular, I’ve watched him at Santos as well and I was always thought the left was his best position and I have seen absolutely nothing that has changed that. The argument isn’t that he can’t do well on the right, It’s that the left is what’s more natural to him, the kid himself said he prefers playing there more, that should settle that, no?
No the kid in repeated interviews has said he has no preference. Even in the one you posted he stated clearly he has no preference; simply that he started on the left. He will be on the right and you will pretend in years time we never had this conversation lol. This is like people arguing Kubo is a right-side wide attacker. No. He is not. He's a Japanese Modric.
No he stated that he prefers the left despite not minding playing on the right in the interview I posted. Why the hell would I pretend to have never had this conversation if he excels on the right? Kubo can and does play very well on the right, he’s playing there at Barcelona’s Masia and in Japan but I agree that his future is as a midfielder.
Well IMO the “discussion” was about how come he did so well against Alaves, at least that’s what I was discussing, so, with that in mind, I thought it might be because his coach asked for more from him considering his outing just before that when he was timid, your thought was because he prefers playing on the left, but, he has also put in decent performances playing on the right for us, so personally I can’t ascribe his decent performance against Alaves solely to him preferring to play on the left, that’s all I’m saying, that’s it for me and this

Couldn't wish for a better mentor than Modric to be honest. Would have probably made a big difference on former groups as well if we'd have a culture as healthy as we do now as opposed to the excesses of the former stars.
Rodrygo playing on the other side is a testament to his ability. Zidane knows hes good enough to play there and at the same time gives him a challenge to improve his versatility. It was the same case for Mbappe at PSG. Eventually Rodrygo will play in a free role.
This is good, he was getting bullied off the ball one too many times this past season, it was frustrating because he’d bet the defender only to get body checked, he should be a lot more dangerous if he could shrug those off.
I'm very careful about those pics, a lot of players looked like they've gone through a body transformation before entering the bubble in Orlando in the NBA and by now all of them look mostly like they used to.
I don't see where he has bulked up. He's naturally grown a little but nothing significant. Just a different angle picture. Anyways his issues aren't bulk; they are passive behavior when on and off the ball.
Hopefully its first season jitters. I'd like to see Zidane put him up top against weaker opposition some games. He has a knack for being in the right positions and a quality finish.
