I imagine if Mark gets sold, it won’t be until January. If Philly still had Trusty, probably a slightly better chance he would’ve moved this summer.
As you said, £1 million not nearly enough...I don’t think I’d even respond to that “offer” (And McKenzie should have his sights set higher). It’s off by a factor of 10 to me. But I think any MLS team will consider decent summer offers this year...cash will be tight, we don’t know if the season will resume (unlikely, IMHO) and even if it does, the championship will carry a big old asterisk this season.
yeah, I meant the post tournament season, or o should say, the part of the season where people might pay for tickets to watch games at home.
Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin confirmed the European interest for Homegrown players Mark McKenzie and Brenden Aaronson. #USMNT #DOOP https://t.co/VXxU4F9biv— SBI Soccer (@SBISoccer) July 29, 2020

Philly should sell if the price is right. But $1.25 mill is very low. The Union are in the process of turning the corner from an average team in the league to a very good one. The sale of McKenzie certainly sets them back with that progress and there is value to that.
I would think selling McKenzie and Aaronson would be a blow to the clubs on field ambitions but it seems like MLS has definitely adopted a pro-selling stance in the last couple of years. For most of the history of the league it was very much an anti-selling stance.
What do you think is a fair price for McKenzie? 1.25 is less than what Scally was bought for. It's gotta be at least double that
Celtics is likely going to sell a young CB in Ajer for big money so Mark would probably get a shot at starting. Not a great league but Celtic have embraced being a developmental club and he would get Champions League experience
really does illustrate that being a selling club is more than a discipline. who are the young replacements?
bump on this one since it seems like mckenzie walks into the celtic xi and probably goes to a better league after this run of form. anything new out there?
I would imagine we might hear of interest in November or December. Just like with Brenden, Philly are simply not going to let Mark go before the end of the season (I don't blame them either as they are making the decision to go for it in 2020). With the window closed for most leagues, it is still an adjustment period for many teams. We still don't know the budgets, values, and needs most teams will have come January. Nice goal from McKenzie last night. Aided by a deflection, but he hit it really well. Crappy result for Philly, but McKenzie played well. 1316560206424354817 is not a valid tweet id 1316577024652251137 is not a valid tweet id
In light of the Brenden Aaronson transfer, I asked #DOOP sporting director Ernst Tanner about the interest in defender Mark McKenzie. Here's what he said. pic.twitter.com/kXi7qUzpkU— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) October 16, 2020
Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner has told @SkySportsNews that Celtic face stiff competition from the Premier League and Bundesliga for centre-back Mark McKenzie. They were in talks in the summer but Celtic opted to sign Shane Duffy on loan from Brighton. pic.twitter.com/mRd3ssWtjU— Anthony Joseph (@AnthonyRJoseph) December 7, 2020
We understand that Celtic are looking for another centre-back in January and McKenzie, 21, is high up on their list of targets again. Tanner admits the USA international is "ready to go" but the Hoops will have to battle it out with clubs across Europe if they want to sign him.— Anthony Joseph (@AnthonyRJoseph) December 7, 2020
It should be literally anybody within reason other than Celtic. If Celtic is the only viable offer, stay in MLS until better opportunities arise thru all the nat'l team fixtures this yr. He may even be able to get into the EPL then. Sounds like Philly & Mark are on a similar wavelength. 50/50 as to whether he goes to most likely Germany this offseason, otherwise remains patient.
He's not. It's a parody of 3rdDegree, the FC Dallas blogger who actually has insider info. Why he was parodied I don't know. But this is bogus.
Not McKennie, McKenzie! Mark makes a name for himself at (Celtic). Mark McKenzie Leaves Union, Gets Right to Work at (Celtic)
