I'd be amazed. Given the trouble Dallas and Nashville have already gotten into, we've already pretty much proven that quarantining isn't a sure thing when there's no bubble. If we start asking teams to travel all over the continent right now, with the hotel stays and plane trips involved, it's going to get ugly quick.
Well, I looked through the schedule rather quickly, and if I counted right, there are only a grand total of eight matches being played during the 9 AM timeslot. Which means there are PLENTY of teams that aren't going to be playing the 9 AM games.
I believe some 9 AM games disappeared from the schedule when Nashville and FCD dropped out. I don't blame the league for pushing things later. It works out better for most people.
I've been pondering this very thing and while I started out saying" no way" I'm not so sure any more. If a team charters a plane and has it sterilized to hell and back, you can move them fairly quickly. And maybe you can arrange for a floor or a half a floor of a big hotel. The majors are already going g to great lengths to sterilize rooms so they can get people back in. Or maybe, for shorter trips, you fly in on game day and fly out afterwards. The Crew, for example, can be in Nashville or Philly or Chicago or DC or NY in between 1-2 hours. Would they want to do it.this way? Of course not. But a 7 am flight and a 5 pm game doesn't seem like asking too much. I'm not saying its a slam dunk but ISTM there are some workarounds
I didn't say that younger fans don't watch--just that it's not as true for them. I'm a huge hockey fan. But I don't watch the KHL.
What data are you basing this statement on? I don't want to belabor this discussion, but it's taking everything I have not to just "ok boomer" and write you off as a member of the group that thinks they're better and special because they're just older. So let me just throw out some data: (Source)
Dude. Take a chill pill. All I meant that European soccer is all we had back in the day, so we were used to morning games. Today we have far more options at all hours of the day, so we're not as used to that, as it's no longer the only option. Not better--just different.
The insinuation of your statement is that people younger than you are not "used to" something that people your age are used to. I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement, the insinuation, and the implication.
I noticed this when looking at reviews of some of the places we went to in Italy. Excepting maybe the eggplant pizza (more because I wasn't expecting it--thought it was mushrooms), I don't think we had a bad meal the entire 2 and a half weeks we were in Italy. Some were exceptional. A couple of odd ones--but not bad. But to read the reviews.... And the complaints about paying for water and bread and a service charge--forgetting that there isn't any tipping there.
I looked ahead in the schedule. The day we're exclusive on TUDN: FS1 is showing bowling with an original air date that same day. FS2 is showing..bowling with no original air date currently listed on my TV. ESPN is currently listed as the 2017 college football national championship. ESPN2 has two episodes of The Last Dance. ESPNU is showing the 2005 NCAA College World Series. ESPN News is showing UFC highlights. At least we're on somewhere, I guess. It's not cool we're bumped for old-ass stuff and bowling, but let's also see if the schedules for the ESPN channels get updated in the coming days. Maybe the saving grace is that is on Twitter. I'm not sure I ever watched anything on Twitter other than videos people tweet.
Right, they do. And they are showing the Hell Is Real game tonight. Besides TURDN, you can get the game on FS1.
I'm not disputing that. Of course they get to show games. Unless I missed something about them being guaranteed to show exclusive games, it stinks we're not on anything more mainstream, especially when ESPN and ESPN2 are showing stuff from 2017 and the umpteenth showing of The Last Dance, also available on ESPN+. It's a head-scratcher. However, as I said, let's see if stuff changes, especially with baseball being back.
Major League Soccer announced that today’s D.C. United vs. Toronto FC match has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
THIS IS A PROBLEM. Per Ale Moreno on ESPN as they were breaking the news... DC United has been in the bubble for nine days. If a team that's been in the bubble for nine days has had someone get infected, that makes me (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) wonder if we're doing the right thing by playing.
They said one of the teams had an unconfirmed positive test (meaning they need to retest positive to be confirmed) while the other team had an inconclusive test. The bubble was probably never going to be airtight. There are also limits to the accuracy of the tests. They have error rates of 5-10% meaning if a whole team is tested there are highly likely to be false positives and negatives.
I saw someplace that the entire MLS bubble - players, coaches, aux staff, league people, referees, medical folks, etc. added up to 1888 people being tested more or less daily.
