Start looking at 33 seconds. The ball was soo lazely rolling the Chelsea nr 5 though being closer to the ball than SU nr 23, couldnot intercept it. At 34sec. 23 makes a quick turn towards the ball moving towards uncovered space, while Mount is moving in to intercept the ball. At the same moment SU nr 32 moves in quickly to intercept the ball as well. At 35 Mount barely has time to just move the ball out of the reach of nr 32, but that player had already so much speed he after the touch Mount made came between the ball and Mount. In the position Mount was in in relation to the ball a wack wasnot possible given his body angle and the proximity of nr 32. You're talking nonsense.
Dribble or not is moot- “Couldn’t control it” Means you weren’t doing what you were supposed to do(put your foot through it whether over the sideline or up field). Looked to me like he thought he had room to dribble out and he even tried to burst through two defenders and got a little too cheeky.
Did you watch the step by step analysis I gave? He couldnot do what you wrote, but anyway he prevented the ball directly going into possession of player nr 32 and got the ball out of the box and direct harms way. The goal was the result of Chelsea not reacting appropriate when the ball got out about 10 meters from the right hand corner of the box, where the ball would have ended if Mount would and could have done what you posted. The goal is on the Chelsea defense, not on Mount.
that is wonderful .... except I worry about the back 4 and the def middies .... between injuries, age and training .... their goal differential does not look like upcoming trades/acquisition are going to make the goals given any better.
It's obvious he could put a heavier touch on the ball to get it out of danger, but he tried to be a bit cheeky and to put a light touch on it thinking he could get around the next guy. He made an error, and was pulled at the half for it. I am sure Mount would have like to have that one back, his decision and outcome would be much different.
He has a very slight frame, slighter than even Pulisic. There's no doubt he has skills, interest to see how he can adapt to EPL football on a weekly basis.
In that formation, the Ziyech/Havertz flank is going to get abused by decent offensive opponents. If Havertz arrives, 4-2-3-1 makes the most sense. You would want 2 CM/DM behind your attacking four.
Just on the Drogba issue, when he first came he did dive and flop around but he got told, (in no uncertain terms, apparently), that players that did that weren't liked in the game over here and his behaviour changed considerably. He still 'embellished' a bit but not more than most other forwards but he didn't go down under no contact. Almost ALL examples of the guy diving were from early on in his CFC career. I paid particularly attention to it as a CFC supporter who's very much 'old school' and HATES diving. As for the guy's character, AFAIK he's always been a very decent person...
This remark has me confused. Are you saying it’s not a pattern for every other player to get worse when your legs go? a few of us have been complaining about the minutes he’s been playing and this is exactly why. No amount of strength is going to let you play well if you’re going 90 minutes in a high intensity league, every 3-4 days. unless your blowing out teams, you need to rotate heavily with this kind of schedule. If you are blowing out teams you can slow the pace down in the final 30 and use your subs for attacking players
I think the problem is that, without us being able to bring in 'reinforcements' because of the transfer ban, the drastically reduced period in which the league is having to be played means we're short on quality guys to step in. Hopefully we can help him out, (and the team, tbh), soon enough.
Nah, it was not meant as a slight to Chris, his game is more dependent on quicks than say a center back or a more traditional winger. His "game" has a lot of stand you up and then go by with his little feints and deft control he can be devastating. Take just a little tiny bit off that and he is not as "world class" even if he can still be very good in bursts. The margin at the pinnacle is very small, At the very top, I do not believe there is some vast gulf between very good and amazingly great in terms of skills or abilities, and the slightest edge can make all the difference. As a youngster still, and in his first season in the EPL he will develop and round out his game, so it does not require him to be at the absolute top of his game to be able to save the day for a team like CFC. Let him get a little tired and then put in a nasty hard challenge early, grab at him, lean on him, push him around some, and he is not as "interested" as he usually is. I think as he gets older and stronger then he will get better at having more endurance, When he gets strong enough you will have to actually grab him hard enough to get a foul. He is not necessarily a glass cannon as many here seem to worry he is, he is more of a thoroughbred. He is not a draft horse, but when you work a thoroughbred like a draft horse they break, Any ability to rotate has been hindered by the Chelsea defense not being able to provide confidence that any lead is safe. He was still among best of a bad lot yesterday IMO, but he was not up to his standard. Momma said there would be days like this.
That was from the Crystal Palace game, but he just started against Sheffield United. Which is not to say he came out of that game with no knocks.
Disagree. His first touch was trying to control the ball, and he couldn’t do it (not saying it was easy, he just didn’t). His first touch should have been a ‘hard as possible clear’, which may or may not have worked. No arguing that what he did do didn’t work to Chelsea’s favor.
Well, this Leicester meltdown, down 1:2 and down a man, has been entertaining. Could help Chelsea for CL if Bournemouth holds on!
Makes one wonder if word has leaked that Man City lost the pending appeal, due to be announced tomorrow. "And, it may be a side issue at present, but there is a reason for all Premier League clubs down to Crystal Palace to take notice. For, if City are banned from Europe next season, there is a scenario where the ninth-placed team gets a Europa League spot. With no City involvement, the remaining clubs in the top five would qualify for the Champions League. Wolves would join them if they won the Europa League. That would open up the next three league places for the Europa League - unless Arsenal won the FA Cup while finishing lower than eighth." https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53366098
Chelsea again controls their Top 4 destiny. Feels like Leiceser is going to end up giving away their CL spot with the ways things been going for them lately.
That was always the case, as long as they wibn out even had Leicester won they stikl would have qualified even without a ban. They have a game against Manure and Wolves so as long as they win those and beat Pool they were in, no matter what Leicester did or does,
