I went to school with two different people both named “ Tim Miller”. Coincidentally, there were also three different girls named “Crystal Anderson” in my graduating class. This is especially strange for a high school of about 400 people.
Here's the opportunity you've been waiting for, @hangthadj! Caleb Porter will answer your questions Friday afternoon.Reply with yours 👇#Crew96 x @LandGrantBeer pic.twitter.com/jTqN4xigjs— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) April 1, 2020
"Happy Hour." Sure. Thankfully the Haslam's got deep pockets and can pay any fine leveled by the FTC for false advertising.
You aren't wrong. An 11:30 kickoff for an exhibition match against a USL side wasn't a top priority last night. But I'll gladly take the Grouchy point. I guess I just have more faith than 78% of you degenerates.
Admittedly am curious as to what was a top priority for you. I mean FC Food Lion has a new coach, so there was a chance they wouldn't be crap.
Honestly, just rest. (And admittedly, like many others here, my enthusiasm for this tournament is bit muted for a number of reasons). My wife leaves the house at 545 for work at the hospital. I take it upon myself to wake up and brew coffee and make her a bacon egg and cheese before she leaves, which means I get up a little before 5 as well. On top of that I have a bit of house work and other stuff to get to today before a local Black Lives Matter protest this afternoon. If the game kicked off at 1030 as planned I probably would have stayed up and fell asleep on the couch waking up at some point around the 75th minute and stumbled to bed. But staying up for an 11:20 kickoff, for some made up tournament, in front of no fans, for a match in which the outcome was never in doubt for me? Meh. I have it on DVR. I watched a little already this morning and will watch a bit more later. Nothing surprising so far in what I've seen. Happy for the convincing win.
I can certainly respect that. Hope you get some rest and are able to try to stay up on a weeknight (Thursday) for the next one!
Someday soon we will raise the MLS Cup under the stewardship of Caleb “I tuck t-shirts into workout pants” Porter, and our hangboy will be happy with us.
Bullshit. I have been quarantined for 4 months and have been watching all the old Crew games available, which aren't many. It might not have been worth it to you, but having a game where I didn't already know the outcome was a huge boost to my attitude.
To be honest, I watched it this morning.... I knew by then that we had won (on the scroll while I was watching Carlton get a big win at the MCG)--but had no idea how. Enjoyable.
I dont think this tournament should even be taking place. Sports are not important right now. I sympathize with the players because I also work where I'm in close contact with lots of other people (three dozen, and counting rapidly, of whom who are positive for Covid) working for an employer who cares more about money than my safety even though I dont provide an essential service or product. It would be best if this wasnt even taking place. With that said I watched the game and enjoyed it. I figured we would win but also figured Cincy couldnt be as bad as they were before, but I was wrong and they sht the bed massively. The time of the game is fine for me as I was in the middle of my work day and we were having a slow day so I got to actually pay attention to the game. Reality is going to set in about how good we actually are once we play real teams like Atlanta and Red Bulls, but this was a perfect way to bring Crew back into our lives, if they are indeed going to be back for the foreseeable future.
Well, we don't know if sports can be played in this fashion until somebody tries it. Someone has to go first. It looks like TBT will be completed, so maybe there's a chance this will be too.
Caleb Porter's much more talented Columbus Crew was eliminated by a superiorly coached team from Minnesota. How you feel about this result probably depends on how seriously you viewed this tournament. As for someone like me, who never viewed this tournament seriously, this does not change my opinion of Caleb Porter. Whether it does for so many Porter apologists who bought into the Crew is a favorite in this tournament, well....that remains to be seen.
This was a game Gregg would have bossed. Caleb porter had no ideas and was lucky to make it to penalties. I would have had Afful play more inside the midfield and free up santos, Zeleryan and Nagbe to pull the midfield. For some reason it seemed like the front four played as high up as they could. No creativity in the midfield. Just irked me, so I had to rant.
