Brescia were really really bad but we played much better than I have seen in a while. And nice to see that Zaniolo has barely lost a step.
We actually have a huge squad in attack when the numpties are all finally fit. These small teams will really struggle now with these quick succession games. They were dead on their feet. Zaniolo looking like the same bull.
Best thing from this game: Fonseca decided to leave a spot empty rather than call Juan lol. His agent was crying before the game, saying this is not the way to treat a Roman legend like him [emoji1787]
Besides from his misses (which is completely understandable for his age) he’s been good, he’s made more good runs in 10 minutes than Cristante or Pellegrini did all season. He’s also tidy on the ball for his age. This is a player that has never played in the top flight before this year, he is bound to be shaky but to say that he looked awful and that he has no future here is completely ridiculous. He’s barely played and generally showed his potential when he did. I’m not sure what games you’ve been watching to think there’s any chance of him NOT being here next season.
I never said he has no future, I said he was awful. When you play in midfield and can’t get even the easiest plays right then you are not ready for this level. He needs at least 2 years of playing time before he is ready to contribute at Roma. I didn’t base my opinion on his misses, I based it on him losing the ball too easily in dangerous places under the slightest pressure. He was bought too early and needs to be loaned.
Again we must be watching a different player. He’s shown great glimpses of being able to break the pressure with great touches and smart passes. Obviously he’s gonna have some hiccups with the enormous leap he made to Serie A. He still doesn’t even have 3 full games in the league and is getting better every game. I’d bet good money on him not being loaned out next season. It’s pretty clear he doesn’t need it. He’s already contributing, he’s not getting charity minutes like the primavera guys.
I think salmeen needs to rewatch. Seems like a total overreaction to him losing the ball in that one spot. Was it a bad give away yes but it wasnt the best pass from a teammate. Was he absolutely awful when coming on? Lol far from it. He looks very confident and has a comfortable style of play with good technique. He looks like the type of player to keep the play ticking over. Put things into perspective of a young kid coming on with nerves wanting to impress.
