The W-League switches to a winter (in Australia) schedule. Takes away the loan opportunities for NWSL players. https://thewomensgame.com/news/the-w-leagues-officially-moving-to-winter-what-do-players-and-fans-think-549431
It also will decrease the number of Aussies playing in the NWSL. This gives a big clue, I suspect, as to why the Thorns were willing to transfer Ellie Carpenter to OL when they had her under contract for the coming year. If she wanted to play in the W-League, it just would not have worked for to play both there and in the NWSL.

Mewis happening, so I'm told.Lavelle a bit more complicated. US Soccer worried about her injuries, if she's allowed to go it will be short-term so up to Man City if they want to put a big financial outlay on her just for 4-5 months. Will write more about it later this week. https://t.co/uSE7bf3YkT— Rich Laverty (@RichJLaverty) August 3, 2020
