So if we go through we will probably meet juve. It would be so awesome if we throw out both guardiola and cristiano.

    1. Real Madrid (ESP) / Manchester City (ENG) vs Lyon (FRA) / Juventus (ITA)
    2. Leipzig (GER) vs Atlético (ESP)
    3. Napoli (ITA) / Barcelona (ESP) vs Chelsea (ENG) / Bayern München (GER)
    4. Atalanta (ITA) vs Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)

I haven't thought about UCL at all recently but this draw is pretty tough, especially Juventus. I believe we have what it takes to beat City but it's an uphill battle at best.

PSG got Atalanta and Atletico got Leipzig...

Juventus fan here, and I can honestly see Real beat Juv. You do see Juventus midfield and defense right? Yeah, we have Ronaldo, but Juv midfield is non existent.

For some reason I would worry about vs. Bayern more than vs. Juve.

You guys have Cristiano. The level if motivation he will have... ugh.

Horrible draw for us. So for us to win we will have to beat City, then beat Cristiano, then beat two of barca bayern, atleti or PSG within like two weeks.

    SIGH

Tough, tough task to accomplish. But then again, if any team can do it, it's Real Madrid. If only our forwards would score more goals... At least, the Champions is still pretty far away.

As for Cristiano's motivation. He always has motivation and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up killing us in the end and my heart would just bleed. Happy for him but not like this... :(

Good news though, if Barca goes through Napoli, they will face Bayern which have been on fire. They'd probably get annihilated.

Honestly, as long as its not Barca winning the CL, I'm fine with us winning the league and dropping out of the CL.

To think that we could have kept him and given him the wages he wanted if we sold Bale instead. I mean, the deal itself was not bad, 100M for a player of his age...

But in hindsight, I think we should have done more to keep him here.

We gave Bale a new contract two years before Ronaldo left. I think the club was terrified after Bale's sharp decline (he played his best season for the club after extending then his absolute worst and never recovered) so they were afraid of giving a player this old a contract with these kinds of commitments.

I think we should give bonus based contracts instead after playing x number of games and goals.
In hindsight who would have known Bale would become this shit.

I admit, I don't much about Ronaldo. But I feel that him leaving RM was more than just the wage issue. I think there some sort of fall out between him and Florentino (the RM president).

In one of the interview he said that he doesn't feel appreciate by Florentino anymore, like when he first came to RM not only that Flo appreciate him but Flo made him feel irreplaceable. But now he doesn't feel that anymore, it like Flo can just kick him out and replace him with anybody anytime he wants.

I mean I dunno, but it sound possible due to Ronaldo has a big ego.

oh, and if CR7 was still here, I believe Real Madrid can win the CL this year. Zidane already got you guys top of the list in La Liga. If CR here, who knows, maybe his magic can carry RM to the final this year. And he hates Atletico right? I remember Simeone interview said he never beat a game against RM when it has CR7 play in it.
Ronald is no spring chicken, but he still has the fire in him.

Flo doesn't like to give contract extensions every two years like Barca does with Messi or Milan did with Kaka'. Ron has big ego, but he had far less influence in club decisions unlike Messi. Barca wouldn't have even considered Tata Martino from Argentina if not for Messi. Flo never let that happen with Ron and tbh, Ron didn't try to make the club hostage demanding more powers in his prime either.

First friction started because club wasn't giving Ron another extension in 2011 as well as 2012. He had indirectly hinted in interviews since 2011 that he'd gladly sign a new contract if offered. But Flo was in no rush as he had a contract until 2015. Then came "I am sad" comment after Messi won individual awards and his camp leaked that he doesn't feel appreciated with club not extending and Flo not attending UEFA awards while Barca always ran strong campaign for Messi.

Flo pacified him at the end of 2013 season and he renewed. He won BDR few months later and everyone was happy with La Decima at the end of the season. All the big players got a contract extension in 2016 with transfer ban looming. But then Messi extended at Barca moving him to 30 ME region. That made Ron wanting another extension after the double in 2017 as him and Messi always were in similar pay packet. Neymar also left for PSG in 2017 with 30 ME+ nett salary.

Remember Ramos almost left in 2015 due to him and Flo arguing over financial details. So it's not just with "Calderon signings and Flo". And then Ron had a really bad start to 2017-18 season barely scoring in the league until January. Club met with Mendes regarding negotiation and had no plan to offer 30 M. They agreed to let Ronaldo go that summer if Mendes could find a club that pays 100 ME. But then Ron unleashed beast mode in second half of league season and against PSG and Juve in CL KOs.

And by the time club and Mendes met in June 2018, there was already preliminary agreement with Juve and Ron's camp. He eventually got excited about the possibility of winning a CL with Juve and be at a club that values him where as RM management thought he's on big decline 6 months ago.

I like Ronaldo more because he diverse, look at his senior career history, he went from clubs to clubs to clubs. While Messi is in his egg shell and little bubble of Barca shield him from all the harm in the world.
    .....
I don't care who think Messi is the world greatest, but until he BREAK out of his Barca bubble, then I will reconsider him. His WHOLE senior career it with Barca, and I bet he WILL retire with Barca. Seriously dude, branch out.

anyhoo, I agreed with PP abotu CR7. I always feel it more that just the wages. Ronaldo ego clearly was hurt by Florentino.

And I'm no CR7 fan, I mean I like him, but I'm not crazy about him like how I"m crazy about Buffon. I know nobody would say no to money (what Florentino make from sale Ronaldo) but I really think Ronaldo is priceless. I don't think any amount of money can replace this legend.
If I was RM I would try to keep Ronaldo. He no spring chicken but neither is Bale or Messi. I mean was RM that poor to need to sale CR7 in order to make money profit?

And that avatar of @Ninho29 was Ronaldo bycycle kick against my Juventus team and my Buffon in CL, lol poor Juve.

Playing for your club for your entire career is admirable. Being a traveling circus is part of being professional, but wearing one crest for an entire career is inspirational.

But even those who stay in a club their entire careers are not equal. For example, Totti could have made more money and win more titles if he left Roma to Real Madrid. You can't say the same about Messi or Giggs/Scholes to a lesser extent for example.

Totti had basically the entire club under his control for a good decade or so. Decisions on players, coaches, staff, went through him. All stuff people make fun of Messi for. Also, let's be honest. Messi could have made the same money he makes at Barca elsewhere as well.In fact i'd say if he'd be willing to join Madrid, 9 times out of 10 Florentino does it and pays him more than they do. Obviously not anymore, but there was a time where there were rumours that we were snooping around at the possibility when Messi was young.

At the end of the day people like Ronaldo more than Messi so they stick with the narrative that "proving it elsewhere" has more value, but staying at home forever has a romatic appeal to it.

It just feels childish to me that people that like Ronaldo always have to pivot everything he does to Messi to prove that he's in some way better.

RM WILL win the league. There 3 games left and Barca are 4 pts behind. They not gonna catch up.

PP said they rather win La Liga instead of CL. Unpopular opinion me rather win the CL than la liga. Show the world and all those CR7 fans that even Ronaldo gone for 2 years we STILL can win the CL trophy without you, pfffffff who needs Ronaldo.

Anyhoo, about Messi stay in his shelter bubble Barca, do Messi fans honestly think if Messi now go to Juve. With a non-existent midfield like Juve, Messi can succeed there?
Alright, if Messi can succeed there without the shelter bubble of Barca protect him and pass the ball to him, then I will reconsider he the great.
The reason why Messi score so many goals it because the whole Barca team build around him.

If Messi was all that, he win the World Cup then. It still his dream trying to win the WC before he hang his boots.

Ronaldo scores, basically at any clubs he ever been to. Let see if Messi can score if you throw him in a non-existent midfield club. You won't know this lifetime because Messi will never leave his bubble.

How about switch it, let Messi go to Real, and Ronaldo go to Barca. I bet Barca will build their whole team around him, and I bet they will treat him super well.

I stop here, I don't like Barca or Messi, so why the heck I talk about Messi, pffff. I just know Barca only has 5 CL, while Real has 13. Even Liverpool has more CL trophies than Barca lol

Just CONGRADS RM on the la liga!!

Who by the way, contrary to popular belief couldn't afford keeping Werner around to play the CL anyway:

Dortmund talked with PSG, they agreed to let Meunier play the rest of the CL campaign with PSG, but the insurance fees and contract proceduals are so high for 1,5 weeks of football that Dortmund said "is borderline insane to pay".
