Anyone know where we might find Barcelona's Infantil roster from 2013/14, when the first big NYT story ran? Curious how the group has panned out so far.

Yea I remember when his thread was first posted it was hard to take it too seriously given how young he was.

I think if he didn’t run into problems towards the end at Barcelona he might be somewhere better, but I’m hoping for a rebound and a transfer to a different La Liga side in a couple years.

He just curled a shot from outside the box with his left that clanked off the crossbar!! Nice quick shot with a man on him.

This is very much a work in progress, but based on a quick scan, the big "winner" so far seems to be Victor Gomez, who had a good season as a young RB for Espanyol. Several of these guys appear to be out of the pro game. Others are still at big club "B" teams, which isn't surprising at their age.

Again, work in progress. If you want to contribute, let me know and I can give you access to that document.

A couple other players to highlight: Abel Ruiz was at Braga this season -- played in one game and made the bench a few times. And Sergio Gomez (on loan from Dortmund) played in 28 games for Huesca in the Segunda.

He might be very late developer, who knows. Lack of athleticism has always been his main issue.

It could be a contract through 2024 though based on him hitting certain performance metrics YoY.

I think it's age related. Those with (M) who are on the main roster in Wikipedia are 20 and under. The ones I didn't find appear to be academy players.

Yep - Ekstraklasa clubs are required have at least one Polish U22 player on the field at all times, so the "M" means that the player is eligible ("młodzież" = "youth"). Lederman's Polish passport is obviously of fantastic use in this regard.

This was also a contribution to his recent extension - an option in his original contract - as it allows the club to take full advantage of his eligible years.

From the club scouting director himself (emphasis is mine):
“Ben is a young player educated in one of the best nurseries in Europe,” scouting director Pawel Tomczyk said. “This is evident from his technical training, speed of thinking and acting on the pitch. He is a left-footed player, most often in position number 10, and there are very few such profiles on the market. Ben’s additional advantage is the fact that he has a Polish passport, and therefore by the end of the 2021/2022 season he will have the status of youth.

Ben came on at halftime with his team down 0-1. They scored in stoppage to win 2-1. Not sure of his involvement in the goals but a good 45 minutes that leads to a 2 goal come from behind win isn’t a bad shift!!
