Would have expected Marcelo to leave in the summer - can't see him getting much more game time next season where I think Mendy will be ultimately first choice LB expect for the Copa etc

He doesn't want to leave Madrid after being there since 2007 and seems happy with rotation role under ZZ.

He still has his worth as a back up. I think placing him in midfield could be a good shout.

Same situation as Achraf just on the opposite side. And I would expect a similar outcome. Reguilon was a first-choice starter on a European side that looks to make the Champions League this year, and he was a key piece of that puzzle. Why would he want to be a backup after doing that?

Agreed, that’s most likely the thinking , except they’re Sevilla and Dortmund and we are Madrid, so, to play and make money I completely get it, to maybe raise your level reach the top and win trophies (especially with the team you grew up in), well, no disrespect but no comparison, it’s not like we pay peanuts and sometimes fighting for the spot in a top level team actually grows your own personal game and mentality, but, to each his own I suppose, just my opinion.

What do you guys think about Raul De Tomas? I wasn't a big fan of his when he was our player but I liked him for Benfica and Espanyol. With Espanyol relegated we can get him for cheap. He did have a lot of injury troubles so that's something to consider.

If we are not gonna use our 2nd striker that much, it wouldn't be the worse idea to sell Mariano, loan out Jovic and get RDT back for 10M.

He didn't want to stay as a back up before. I think Mariano is better. He was scoring well at Lyon when he was starting every week. While RDT has done well for relegation fighting clubs like Rayo and Espanyol, he struggled to get into Benfica's starting XI before January move this season.

IMO, same old same old between him and Mariano, they’ve scored about the same amount of goals in their careers , nothing particularly outstanding, if Mariano doesn’t want to leave ( he might do) then no point in getting rid of him for Raúl de Tomás , especially if ZZ intends to use that reserve striker as much as he has this season

Yeah agreed, I think if we're thinking about RdT, I'd just keep Mariano. Mariano is actually a decent goal scorer given limited time, and is strong in the air. Not a bad option to throw on late.

That said, I think Jovic needs another year. 2 strikes so far, 3rd strike and he's out.

A lot of things point to Jovic not having adapted to life in Spain. This is where the focus should be to be honest.

RDT is much more technical and skilled than Mariano, who is mostly pure chaotic energy and that kind of style really doesn't fit with our team.

Fair enough, but I believe that he really hasn’t been given any real chances since he came back and he was brought back for a reason, because he scored goals, so we don’t really know what he could do in our team unless he is given a good run, which I don’t really see either him or RDT being given to be honest, so why change one for the other, pointless in my opinion, career goals about the same for both, I can’t see the point in bothering,

Jovic barely got any time and he’s the supposed go to guy after Benz, I can’t see the club replacing him with RDT and if it’s the same set up with RDT being third in line well, why go to all that trouble when we already have Mariano, as I said before, unless he wants to leave we might as well just keep him, especially with ZZ as coach, but as usual, to each his own

Do you know how dumb you have to be to not adapt to life in Madrid!?

I would live in Madrid in heart beat. I’ve brought this up to my wife many times over the years...

I attended an international school for 3 years and a lot of the guys couldn't wait to go to their country and just sit around at a cafeteria all day in sandals jorts and tshirts, like old folks. Some people are wired differently.

I also attended such schools. In fact, I wrote an essay for my English class in college about my experience and how racism was formed.

A lot of the guys refused to learn the language of the country they were living in. They thought they would return back home as soon as they graduated any way, no matter what their parents wanted.

Several of them started learning the language as adults in order to find a job when the economic crisis hit. You literally cannot be so silly that you wasted this much time and opportunity but it was actually a majority that did.

I don’t rate Mariano but if we are looking for a striker who will do the most with five minutes in a match, I think he’s the best at that. The guy craves goals. He doesn’t do much else on the pitch, but whenever I watch him he is just dying to get in a scoring position.

Jovic linked to Leicester in UK media today. I have a feeling he is going to be loaned out.

If true and we loan him out, who comes to replace him? surely it can’t be bet on Benz 24/7 game in game out, what would be the plan
