If this were a normal regular season game with those two teams, you’d been lucky to crack 300k.

Wonder how the morning game did. Certainly was better in quality.

 

I think the very first game will remain the highest rated for the whole tournament including the final.

 

Also the game was on ESPN+
to add to this number.

 

Was on replay probably some time after, although you’re probably thinking of the live stream on the ESPN app. That’s probably not included to your point.

 

Don’t agree. That was a lackluster pairing. It was that high, in the first place, because of the dearth of competition. There’s no indication that dearth of competition will change anytime soon, leaving room for even better numbers when there’s a batter matchup.

 

I think the games on Fox will be the highest rated.

Do you also have a tv provider that has ESPN? When I did I could watch the game through the ESPN app under ESPN+ if I wanted to.

I had confirmed with ESPN+ that the MLS is Back games that are on ESPN are not being broadcast live on ESPN+. I tried for the first game and the only option I had was to login with a tv provider.

 

Thursday soccer TV numbers:
MLS's first 9 am ET game at #MLSisBack (Union-NYCFC) averaged 159,000.
Two EPL afternoon games:
Newcastle-Aston Villa: 367,000.
Tottenham-Bournemouth: 276,000.

Fox and tudn will have artificial crowd noise for MLS is back games.

 

Admittedly, I like the noise on EPL broadcasts but I think it will be odd in an empty stadium.

 

Yes I have all 3 ESPN, ESPND through the tv provider and ESPN+ through the app.
So if I decide to watch it on ESPN+
do they track those numbers ?

 

You're confusing ESPN+ for ESPN streaming. Also, no.

Despite Mexican soccer being back the top 2 most watched soccer matches from July 1 to 7 were EPL mathes. The 3rd most watched match was Pumas vs Cruz Azul though. Lots of matches are missing, but a Barcelona match on BeIn got 61k. The German Cup final on 4th of July was a total flop with only 108k on ESPN. This has gotta be a bit disappointing for ESPN who just acquired the Bundesliga rights.

No info on any of the Serie A matches shown on ESPN that week.

 

Just a thought but maybe people had other things to do on July 4th.
