Nico Carrera was trialing at Nurnberg at the same time as Adam. Unfortunately, only Adam was offered a contract. I hear Nico still managed to find another German club.
#8 position, Adrian Simon ('06). Are we sure this guy is going to want to play for the USA? Could he prefer Spain? I don't think either country has had any '06 YNT camps yet for him to attend. I tried to watch all available La Masia matches this season. Any more info on this? I know many have soured on Nico but he has a lot of assets that I think could be useful if he's developed propery.
Says his parents moved for work reasons, could obviously still have spanish citizenship https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/futbol-base/barca-firma-una-promesa-estadounidense-6841042
My apologies if I missed this news earlier in the thread, but it looks like LAFC is nearing signatures for three homegrown signings: Antonio Leone (CB) - 2004 Erik Dueñas (RB) - 2004 Christian Torres (FWD) - 2004 SOURCE Hearing #LAFC has made a trio of homegrown signings: defender Erik Dueñas, forward Christian Torres and center back Antonio Leone. Leone has played for both U.S. and Mexico youth national teams. Torres scored in a preseason game for LAFC vs. TFC earlier this year.— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) July 8, 2020
Sounds like great news. They must really rate him. I expected him to start with the U-19's or reserves. On Joe Scally's rise from @NYCFC academy standout to soon-to-be Borussia Monchengladbach fullback.Scally will remain with the Gladbach first team when he joins in January. https://t.co/woBwTwKh53— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) July 8, 2020
Didn't they say the same thing about Uly at first? I really doubt he gets games that fast for the first team, which isn't a slight at all. There just isn't a player that's gone straight into a first team except Adams, and he had a ton of minutes already.
He'll be 18 when he moves there (can't move until he's 18), but he's over a month younger than Reyna. Not that I remember. I think the main difference between Scally and players such as Llanez, KHF, Kayo is that Scally was purchased for 2M. There was an investment there that might alone get him a first team spot. I doubt he'll play much, if at all, prior to the 2021-22 season, but the fact that his starting position at the club seems to be first team player with worst case scenario a loan to a lower level pro team team after half a season as opposed to U-19/reserve team player who needs to prove himself to be one of the best players in the academy does seem to indicate they rate him highly.
Guy is a monster athlete. Not sure if he’s technical or tactical enough to play anywhere but RB but he can develop into a bully out there. One of your best calls imo.
Evan Rotundo has officially announced his signing with Schalke as he has turned 16 today and can move to Germany with his French passport.
I think he’s technical and tactical enough to play as a center back. I don’t think he’s technical enough to be an attacking fullback though.
I think he may be one of these players that can play a number of positions, like Tyler Adams can. At CB, he may be more athletically suited to play a more well-rounded game. At RB, he's more of a defensive fullback with athleticism. As a #8, he'd cover a lot of ground.
Congrats to Evan Rotundo (16) on signing with Schalke 04. Another USMNT prospect with a chance to climb the ladder in Germany’s youth academies 👀 #USMNT #OneGoal pic.twitter.com/9fPWvVLpWb— OneGoal (@OneGoalUS) July 9, 2020
Congrats to Evan. He has the "it" factor with drive and determination and good to see our top players get over to Europe at such a young age.
