Willian blew 3 chances from Pulisic where he drew the defense and then switched it to him in the box. One of his assists I believe was to Pulisic where he just cooked the defender. So hard to call him MOTM.

There wasn't a clear one. Maybe Zouma gets it for the game-saving tackle. Azpi was pretty good. Pulisic & Willian were. No clear standouts in this one. Very uneven performance.

If they hadn't hit the post unluckily that would have been the FIRST TIME ALL SEASON PALACE SCORED 3.

    Yikes.

Top 3 attack, which is progress. City and Liverpool remain a clear cut above in this category.

The difficulty of those chances provided by CP is really understated in this thread... the first one is probably rarely a goal, first timer just inside the box? Willian hit it decently curling away from the keeper and drew a save, right? The volley was hit into the ground, probably would have went on target but was blocked by a defender... also not some great chance.

These plays can be smart, good passes from CP, decent set ups which could potentially lead to a goal, and yet also not be clear-cut chances which are expected to result in goals... those ideas aren't mutually exclusive. Because of that none of these are indictments of Willian's overall play any more than CP's dispossessions are of his play IMO.

Need more squad rotation next game. We always knew they would be gassed at the pace these games are coming - but Frank went with 10 of the same 11 and I think it hurt at the margins.

If my MOTM performances inspired posts like this I'd be cranky too.

If he’s worrying about what fans say, make it one year. Perhaps I was hyperbolic. He was steady and reliable as alway, but not sharp in the second half in my opinion. I see that others disagree. That does not offend me.

I will save folks some time and summarize it here.

"By some distance the Blues' best player since the restart"

    "Man of the match"

"The stand-out player for Chelsea in the first half"

    "Great visionary play"

They all gave him an 8, highest of all players along with Willian.

Tidy, tidy finish. Defender clearly thought he was going to cut onto his right as he normally does. Nice vision and execution by CP to go left and smash it into the corner. As a defender, if you cheat to one side he'll burn you on the other.

Well. How long before Zumba makes the play that ties it up?

He had a very composed game against Watford, but Watford were poor from minute one.
This is the equivalent of a baby spitting out the food because it wasn't delivered in an airplane. Will(I)an will only score on CP penalties.

Kante apparently really makes a difference. CP seemed in control of the midfield in the second half. Better go,after more high priced attackers in the transfer market.
