San José resuming the season successfully taking its first step toward reclaiming the MLS Heritage Cup?

Seattle assuring an advantage in remaining the MLS Heritage Cup incumbent?

The Earthquakes channeling the ardor of George Best, Paul Child and Slavisa Zungul? Sounders FC siphoning the energy of Mike England, Roger Davies and Alan Hudson?

    Discuss.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

    Thanks.

At least the Earthquakes get to start off playing their most difficult opponent in their group, getting it out of the way early. :)

I've always debated with myself about do I want the toughest first or play the easiest to build up (hopefully) confidence.

Get a win against the toughest and you could set yourself on the way to winning the group, while losing to the easiest could kill your chance.

In a tournament format, you want the best first before they have time to gel and/or feel like that have their back against a wall (see Brazil and Germany in pretty much every World Cup).

Especially if the opponent is thinking they have the easier game to start.

Of course, getting them last if they've already clinched is nice as well.

Even my daughter is getting excited. Yesterday she asked me: "When do the Quakes play" after hearing about the tournament on the news (TT interview).

Yup. Got a slot for the grass in the Epicenter for Friday's opening game.

The last time we beat the Sounders was 2015, but it's not uncommon for us to get a point from them.

    I'm predicting a draw.

This match, and single game on a neutral ground, will determine the Heritage for 2020. You can see the Heritage Cup rules on SSVCF's page. Keep you fingers crossed that these two teams keep testing negative.

Even money says the players were out on the town and not isolating when they caught the China Virus.

Friday's EQ vs Sounders game in Orlando will be the Heritage Cup game for 2020.

Hey! Don’t call it the China Virus, that’s political. ;)
