Sources: Colorado Rapids have postponed today’s flight to Orlando. Two members of traveling party, including one player, tested positive for COVID-19 on final round of pre-travel testing. Follow-up testing to occur. Aim is to travel tomorrow.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) July 5, 2020
Of the 12 players who have tested positive in Orlando, 10 are from DAL, one each from CLB and MN.Players that I’ve spoken w/ last few days are understandably concerned about a number of issues, but, FCD aside, the numbers from bubble are low. Let’s hope that remains the case. https://t.co/ixWermtSZQ— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) July 5, 2020
Rapids have announced they are now planning to travel on Tuesday. Meanwhile the Athletic is reporting that 5 Nashville players have tested positive, 1 confirmed and waiting on retests on the other 4. They have not trained in Orlando since Tuesday.
Formula 1 started this weekend in Austria, also using 'bubbles' for each team (20 drivers, 10 teams, lots of crew members) and also separation for media. Over 4,000 tests and no positives so far -- don't want to jinx them but seems to be proof of concept (if you don't do it in Florida). https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/4000-coronavirus-tests-f1-prove-negative-71607050 "Formula One says there have been no positive cases from more than 4,000 coronavirus tests carried out on F1 personnel over the past seven days"
It’s supposed to be a bubble @thesoccerdon right ? pic.twitter.com/nIaPa0s8jr— NICO D BENEZET 👒 (@NicolasBenezet) July 5, 2020
Why is it so difficult to bring meals to players quarantined in their rooms? The meals look like they were already shipped UPS. Put them in a box and leave them outside the guy's hotel room.
1. These positive tests in the MLS bubble aren't reflective of it being in Orlando. They reflect the virus being in cities around the US.2. The one saving grace so far is the virus isn't being caught from transmission inside the bubble.3. More games may have to be rescheduled. https://t.co/NoxoPcuIUK— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) July 5, 2020
Despite the team announcing they were moving their departure date from yesterday to tomorrow, Burgundy Wave just posted photos of the team rolling out of the Dick for DIA this afternoon.

Fans, rest assured, @ColoradoRapids taking this opportunity carefully but NOT lightly! Thx to @drewmoor @KellynAcosta for their candid views of being in Orlando (probably....?) https://t.co/hpaIhHPIOP— MLSfrom5280....yes, THAT one. (@MLSfrom5280) July 6, 2020
Very interested to see how MLS handles FCD's pullout from the tournament. Does their group lose a game? Do you slide one team (Nashville back to Western Conference) from the 6 team group (Group A) over? Do you realign all groups to stay within conference? Realignment would seem like a nightmare with TV schedule and the fact team are preparing for those teams in their group.
The hard part is that they said the games count for regular season points. Hard to bring another team over, then Dallas is down the ability to get points. Hard to say those new games just don't count since both teams playing would need the points. Would have been a lot easier if they said the tournament was self contained. To preserve the season, the games stay as-is and any games with fcd get moved to later in the year. That messes up the tournament, though. No real good way to handle this.
Along the TV-visible side of the pitch during MLS matches in Orlando will be this giant green screen (it's blue here) that will feature league & team sponsor branding, among other things. There will also be an LED field board ringing the bulk of the pitch pic.twitter.com/wXu7CfQKqD— Ian Thomas (@byIanThomas) July 6, 2020
#Rapids96 just released Elevate episode 0303. It includes footage from "7 days till Orlando," presumably last week's training. Only first team players I haven't found are Keegan Rosenberry & Jonathan Lewis. They could be last week's two positive tests. https://t.co/R4KLeOXC6o— Matt Pollard (@LWOSMattPollard) July 7, 2020

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell me other MLS teams wanted FC Dallas out of the bubble tournament after not doing what was necessary to be virus-free and ready to play. Similar feelings about Nashville right now.— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) July 7, 2020
