DC United are adding Gainbridge on the other jersey sleeve and EventsDC to their shorts for MLS is Back.
I had to google gainbridge. sounds like money laundering. Which sports sponsorship is good for. dumbly-named tournament news: Reached out to #DCU, and none of these involve United. Only the one positive test that was announced a couple of weeks ago— Jason Anderson (@JasonDCsoccer) July 1, 2020
I was pretty surprised to see that there were only 4-5 other teams in the league that came into this season with a sleeve sponsor so the additional sponsors are probably not things most other teams have tried or been able to sell. Levien & Co have been pretty busy. I am kind assuming the 2nd sleeve and shorts sponsor are probably a conversion of in stadium gameday advertising revenue. I am sure it will look tacky because its not something we're used to seeing on a sports team uniform, but outside of the biggest clubs/leagues, its pretty common. Leon's kit must look like a dammed NASCAR with 11 different sponsors, according to Goff's article.
I didn't realize I left this open in a tab on yesterday... It looks like some other teams had send-off events. Don't worry, I was at Eagle Bank Field this morning. I still have a few posts saved to post in the audi field thread... I've been down there nearly every week still. Maybe I'll eventually post some photos. Weeks ago I noticed an e-tron had been added to the vehicles inside of the stadium I was around for what I thought was going to be the departure. l departure.
DC United's first match with Toronto FC has been postponed to Sunday, July 12 with a 9 AM kickoff time. Coverage on ESPN2. Also, MLS is now posting betting odds on their website in partnership with MGM. Toronto is listed at -115, DC United at +290.
Sports Betting to me is pretty much like a beautiful mind. I have an education background in advanced mathematics all the way though college and and it is completely alien to me. Honestly someone should've convinced the mob to go legit into tech in the 60s and they would all be billionaires today (legally).
Or if you want to bet legally in DC, it is -125 and +280 (since the DC betting site has decided to have a hold of about 10%)
So as someone who likes to bet on horses and football, which are pretty easy to figure out points- and odds-wise (mostly, horses can be interesting) - can someone explain to me -115 and +290; like basics, those numbers are foreign to the sport and my brain.
In rough terms, -115 means you have to bet $115 to win $100, and +290 means you have to bet $100 to win $290. -115 means Toronto is favored, +290 means DC is the betting underdog. Also, those odds have changed to -125 for Toronto and +309 for DC.
So ... you'd only bet if you thought DC would win? Or is 2:1 the default odds and the 125/100 a way to say the odds are a little less than 2:1 but I still get $225 for my $125 bet? [ @usadcu mentioned betting on a tie (I mean, I keep reading that all soccer games end in ties ) So we can ignore some of my question below ......] Can I bet a draw? Can I bet a 0-0 draw over a 2-2 draw? Bookie keeps $ on a draw, or it's returned (minus "fee")? Don't worry, I'll save my NHL betting questions for BigHockey dot com
After watching what little spending money I had rapidly disappear in college, I learned not to gamble (in general), or bet on sports (in particular).
Side note on betting in DC. My son lives right near Cap One Center and it has an "exclusive" gaming rights in the immediate area. He is geoblocked from using the DC betting app in his apartment even though the betting operation at the arena hasn't begun. He's also geoblocked on "federal enclave" property as well. So, he has to take a few block stroll to engage in legal DC betting.
I'm not sure that does it because to use the app, you have to be in DC. The minute he leaves the District, he's also geoblocked. That's why he uses his phone, I'm not sure a VPN would do you much good, because most VPN's won't pull up servers by neighborhood. I certainly used one last summer in Italy, could watch Netflix and ESPN no trouble and could purchase books for my Kindle.
You can bet pretty much any score of the game, as well as how many goals will be scored. Most soccer betting is 3 way, so the three options are Toronto win, DC win, or draw. This is the page for the DC United game on Sunday, as you can see you can bet on lots of stuff. https://gambetdc.dclottery.com/en/e...-eastern-conference-gr-c/toronto-fc-dc-united
I don't see that one... wait, no. About 2/3 the way down the page under the heading Is Anybody Still Reading These?: Eastern Bear bets on DC United. Yes +5 / No -100000 Why would I take that?
reasons not to bet on United: we always screw the pooch after an off-season, never come out sharp (nor as sharp as the other team) and Toronto is a strong contender to win this tourney. Reasons to bet on United: they never do what I think they are going to do.
