Wow, at least I nailed the OLR-SBFC draw (although I had it with goals): for the rest, looks like my first week worth of prediction is going downhill! :x3:

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to come back from behind, like in previous season. :whistling:

So far I'm 4-for-4 with W/D/L, though I haven't gotten any scores rights

Here is my Wednesday prediction. [no Mautz, Wright, McDonald, Mathias, A. Watt, Franch, Reynolds, Sauerbrunn, Thomas]. I am waiting for Injury Reports to do Saturday and Sunday scores.

    Thorns 1 v Red Stars 2

    Courage 2 v Spirit 1

Looks like Rory is starting a whole new team today. The subs who sat out the other day are starting and all the starters are sitting.

...yikes... I'm highly tempted to change my 2-1 in POR's favor to 3-0 with that CHI lineup... but then again, POR is without Brunn (so CHI can score) and POR didn't impress me much in the opening match either, so IDK. I'll stick with that 2-1 for now.

Well, I was the only one to correctly predict a draw between Portland and Chicago, although with the wrong number of goals, so it's already getting better for me. Phew! :p

Here's hoping for another draw later between Spirit and Courage! :ninja:

I forgot there were matches today, so I missed a prediction with Portland-Chicago. Frustrating to see another 0-0 draw, but not entirely a shock given how many starters were rested for both teams.

For tonight, I'll be hopeful and say the goals return: Washington 2, North Carolina 2.

I'm gonna wait for injury reports to come out before predicting the next round of matches... But while I'm waiting, I'm already gonna take a look back at my ladder prediction X-D

I'm 5-for-6 on W/D/L, so my ladder is pretty damn intact. My one miss was predicting that POR would beat CHI, which ultimately was a draw. (In hindsight, it used to be a forum joke about how often POR and CHI drew, so maybe I should've just run with that, gameday rosters be damned.) CHI would go from a tie for 7th with HOU on 1pt (which I said they'd lose on Goals For - something that does, thus far, look likely) to outright holding 7th on 2pts... except now POR is also "on track" for 2pts in my predictions, so there's a tie for 6th to break. If I follow through on the idea that CHI has trouble scoring this tournament, POR would hang on to 6th.

While this doesn't mess up my ladder too much, it *completely* screws up my knockout predictions, because there's no way HOU upsets NC in the QFs....

    =EDIT=
WAIT! I forgot that my gameday prediction for UTA-HOU was different than my ladder prediction, so HOU actually has an extra point as well! So that's actually quite the logjam at 2pts setting up if the rest of my ladder holds... So it's entirely possible that it's still POR-HOU-CHI at the foot of my ladder. And UTA being down 2pts doesn't change them from 5th either is POR is down as well! Man, my ladder is still technically intact (dependent on tiebreaks) even with two W/D/L changes...

So you confirm that this year there is no robot involved? Are this just "human predictions" from you?

Because, anyway, it looks like they somehow reflect, at least in part, the trend of last year: do you anyway try to follow a method based on past results, in your predictions, @cpthomas?

    Saturday, July 4
Utah 1, Sky Blue FC 2
Houston Dash 3, OL Reign 1 (this prediction is assuming Daly is available; not sure of her injury status as the official report isn't updated yet)

    Sunday, July 5
    North Carolina 2, Chicago 0
    Portland 1, Washington 2

These are mostly wild guesses, because coaches can throw out such wildly different lineups game to game.

No robot, no particular method. I mostly considered how many goals teams scored in their first games. And, for the Thorns, I could have had a tie (the goal differential for the two teams is the same), but I considered that the Courage only won the Thorns-Courage game in the 94th minute, that that game was competitive mostly throughout, and that the Spirit looked outclassed for most of their Courage game. I would not put too much stock in the Thorns-Spirit prediction, however, since I am a Thorns fan and I do not trust myself on that one.

Really, though, I spent about two minutes on my predictions.

It is 18 hrs to kickoff and NWSL.com does not have an updated injury report up.
I'll Jump in anyway. On NWSL Live today with Jordan, Jeff, and Lori - Rachel Daly said she was day-to-day, 'but I'll be ready for Saturday's game.'
I think Daly will be less than 100% and that affected my prediction.

    July 4 & 5

    Royals 1 v Sky Blue 1
    Dash 1 v Reign1
    Courage 2 v Red Stars 1
    Thorns 1 v Spirit 2
..........Spirit actually know who they are, but the Thorns do not. Portland has played 2 morning games. This one is at night. Spirit have had 2 night games. Better rhythm.

For today's matches, I had a win for NJ in my ladder and a draw in the other match... I'm gonna switch that to draws for both.

    1-1 all

Welp, I am now thoroughly removed from near-perfect X-D Oh well.

    NC 3-0 CHI
    POR 1-2 DC

As a side note, can we agree on RGN instead of OLR for the new-look Reign? It's what they're using on Twitter already, plus OLR looks like a dyslexic ORL.

I can tally up some scores if someone will remind me on the scoring. Its been a few years since I've participated. We're doing 3-2-1 +1, right? Is the +1 for goals for one team regardless if you got the result or not? Or is it a bonus only if you got the result?

If you ask @cpthomas, if I am not wrong he could have some kind of an automatic score-calculator at ready, that could make your task easier.

Edit: actually I should actively try to avoid the scores being calculated, since my performance in these first two weeks is abysmal! And my ladder-prediction looks all over the place to boot! :p

Check your scores, and do correct me if there's a mistake. I feel certain that there is. @lunatica went into the lead from the exact prediction of the game last night. Just behind is @cpthomas by one point with a few others only a couple of points behind. Also only one of us, @blissett, predicted the Portland-Chicago draw. Same on the draw between Houston-Utah, with only @SiberianThunderT getting a point there.
