I haven't heard of Soleil Energy, can somebody fill me in? Is it all natural energy pills? Or some type of essential oil? Or a nutraceutical? Someone please tell me quick, I need to start assembling my team!!!
Solar company. Not sure if it is a DLH company, but their name is on the Soleil Lofts that are to the west of the academy.
It’s great that all of MLS is headed to Orlando... The Orlando Pride have withdrawn from the #NWSL Challenge Cup due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests. A trip to a bar in Orlando — reopened under Florida's guidelines — is likely at the root of the spread through the team.More at @TheAthleticSCCR: https://t.co/Mbfs7ZOTpr— Meg Linehan (@itsmeglinehan) June 22, 2020
Games 1 & 2 in the bag on this thing. Pretty weird to watch. Doesn't really help the "seriousness" of the league when you see a playground feet away from the pitch... Oh, and ******** Alexi Lalas
Weird that the censors are changing "I love" to ********. Strange times these. Anyway, is anybody watching the Royals - Dash game tomorrow? Might have to try the free trial of CBS All Access.
SPOILER ALERT (in case you're planning on watching the taped game tonight) Pretty interesting game today. Ended up tied with Houston 3 - 3. We looked like we were in control pretty well early in the game, scored the first goal, then Houston came back and scored three before we got two more back. I think we're going to miss Sauerbrunn on the back line but it'll be a lot of fun to watch Tziarra King.
So, watched it and then did a re-watch, which should tell you all you need to know! This iteration of the Royals is about 1000x more exciting to watch than before! Coach has them playing a 3-5-2 triangle down. What that means is that the Royals d-mid may get overwhelmed each game depending on the instructions to the outside mids. It also means 2 dedicated offensive mids, which is very aggressive. Without going into great detail, the Royals had numbers going forward and the ability to combine well. The system is PERFECT for Vero - she found the ball a lot with multiple options. Defensively, even with the likely addition of Scott as the d-mid, the Royals could give up a ton of space over the top and at the top of the box. Goals against came on a corner (adequately defended), a catastrophic error (rec league misread of a long ball for a break which created a numbers down situation), and a tactical goal (nice work for them on the outside, extra player coming through at the top of the box not picked up because too far for the outside mid to get all the way over). With that being said - entertaining. Every game may be first team to 3 wins!
We did look really good starting out. Even without Press and O'hara we looked very comfortable in the first half. Passing was crisp as we moved the ball around very well and constantly created opportunities. The goal from Matheson was definitely with the run of play. Then Gunny switched off right before half time and gifted them a goal which really seemed to deflate us. Then the quick goal to start the 2nd half and we really became unraveled. After giving up the third I didn't think there was any hope but then they turned it on again and crawled back to finally get the equalizer. Fun game to watch, and a lot of positives to take away despite not getting the win.
Also, Abby is short. So was Nicky. But Nick could jump. He played on his toes and could spring off his feet. Abby... not so much. The header off the corner went over her head and despite "jumping" I don't think her toes cleared the tallest blade of grass. She's young and has potential but I think Barnhart needs to step up while Abby learns how to leap and dive.
Positives: It was nice to see a Royals team willing to make a few forward passes. ARod still has some gas left in the tank, even if she's not the player she was five years ago. Matheson was more effective than I would have thought, and Vero might have been our best player. I'm also really excited about King - she's physical, but her first touches were immaculate. Get her on the field from the start in one of these matches. Finally, it was genuinely fun to watch! Negatives: We're never going to get very far in this tournament playing Gunny in a back three - she looked completely lost. Maybe shift Bowen back to that position. Labonta as a true DCM is terrifying. She takes so many risks, which you can't afford in that part of the field. And while I like the back three in theory (because of what it allows us to do further up the pitch), it felt like suicide against Daly. We need a plan B back there.
LA getting a team in 2022. I bet Press leaves for hometown team. Ohara likes to surf in California. Anyone else likely to leave?

Wasn't Becky Sauerbrunn on billboard-sized adverts during year one? Her and Kyle I think. I wasn't in the area, just read stories (or think I remember having done so). EDIT: I see that story is from when Carroll too over. Good lord.
Allocation Disorder - a The Athletic Podcast - dedicated pretty much an entire episode to this. Listen to it
I've met DLH on multiple occasions. He was nice. I'm saddened but not totally surprised that he turned out to be a jolly old buffoon that didn't realize he can't say things that the general population felt was acceptable 20 years ago but he's getting educated now, just a bit too late. I've also met Andy Carroll on multiple occasions. Never liked him at all, in any capacity. Always rubbed me the wrong way and now I know why. I'm excited for the house cleaning.
I have met Dell Loy a couple times as well. Once at a Corner Bakery opening and we had a conversation about the team and also about construction. When I brought up the craft I work in he said "We need to work on keeping wages low so that he can afford to keep building" or something very close to that. I was a little put off but hey, he's a builder what else is going to say I thought. I then met him when he was coming on to a board I served on and was filling a spot as my term ended. When he was finding a place to sit around the table he said he wanted to sit by the pretty lady or something that was just a little off. I spoke with the director a 6 months or so later and asked how it was going with Dell Loy because it was thought having him on the board would be very beneficial but they said he wasn't really interested in the human side of their efforts and only interested in building stuff. He only attended a few meetings and just never really did anything to benefit the organization. My daughter also worked for him and said he was very misogynistic and everything that we have come to know about him. My examples are admittedly not incredibility damning. Really could be passed off as just another builder in an incredibly corrupt and not worker friendly industry and a guy that doesn't treat anyone, especially women, with any real respect. There are sadly guys like this all over the place but where there is smoke turns out there's a raging fire of racism and a truly toxic human that gets to reap what he sowed. I truly fell sad for him and definitely much more for everyone that has had to take the abuse he has passed out and allowed to occur in the businesses that he owns. Looking forward to better days.
Birds of a feather... Sadly this doesn't surprise me. I know change can be slow, but hopefully as the baby boomer generation dies out, we'll start to see more overall progress. Treat people with whatever respect they've earned. It shouldn't matter what sex or race they are, good people are good people. It sickens me to see people that automatically label someone based on their race or gender.
