    it's not really untrue since he made it with Ingolstadt before who are a minnow club now in 3rd Liga.

    his 2 1BL clubs are both not really 1BL worthy both are 2BL clubs who got promotion.

    just because you play in 1BL for the duration of your club's time in a league doesn't mean your are a player who fits that league.

    He got playing time, but he got benched numerous times for being bad in some games. The club looks better without him.

    he's not the only one, plenty of players around 1BL are more like 2BL level players including his some of his Fortuna teammates.

    nothing wrong with that.

    He is a career ~ 65% passer. Very good winning headers, though.

    Didn't even see the field today. Charlie has been steadily losing ground.

    so relegated and going back to 2BL?
    only started once in last 5 games.

    has a 2021 contract, so could be sold this Summer if he doesn't extend.

    I would be very surprised if he remains in 2BL.

    Can you give it a rest. Over the last 5 seasons, his record is

    2019-20, BL1: 27 appearances, 1726 minutes => 19 full games for Fortuna
    2018-19, BL1: 23 appearances, 1525 minutes => 17 full games for Fortuna
    2017-18, BL2: 27 appearances, 2036 minutes => 22.5 full games for Fortuna
    2016-17, BL1: 27 appearances, 1711 minutes => 19 full games for Ingolstadt
    2015-16, BL1: 24 appearances, 1662 minutes => 18.5 full games for Ingolstadt

    That's for two teams, the profile of a (regular) rotator at two BL1 relegation candidate sides. He fits in a basement side in that division, true, but if he fitted in BL2 he'd have spent 3 of the last five seasons playing in BL2. He didn't, so he doesn't.

    Give what a rest? Nothing I said was wrong.

    your the one with a wrong timeline.
    2017-18, BL2: 27 appearances, 2036 minutes => 22.5 full games for Fortuna

    he played in 2BL with Ingolstadt not Fortuna. Got picked up by a 1BL promotion team Fortuna due to having 1BL experience. Both times he was in 1BL is due to promotion and got relegated with both teams.

    he also lost his XI spot numerous times as well. If I recall before Fortuna picked him up he was considering MLS move.

    It sounds like he's a player that rotates in and out of the lineup for recently promoted Bundesliga sides that go back down after about two seasons.

    In my mind, I do see a bit of a distinction between teams that are able to comfortably survive in the Bundesliga for even a season (remember Dusseldorf finished 10th last year), and teams that go right back down immediately, the latter of which are much more clearly little more than Bundesliga 2 sides IMO.

    But obviously there is still a noteworthy gap between either of those types of teams and longer lasting Bundesliga sides, so I can understand the difficulty people are having in thinking about where he fits into the Bundesliga hierarchy.

    how a team does isn't a good reflection on individual players anyways.

    last season there was Raman and Lukebakio both along with Hennings (still there) who played big roles in survival. This season Raman and Lukebakio were poached by other clubs and there was no replacements and the team was even weaker. Heavily reliant on Hennings.

    No, he will move to another struggling team like he has done it in the past.

    All things considered, yo-yoing between 1st and 2nd division in Germany is not that bad. We've had our share of 2nd division players in the NT, who have done fine enough. Fredo never had that chance, he's only played about 670 minutes for the US in 7 years.

    Sometimes a player's club reputation will hunt you when it comes to NT selection.

    The days of our NT team selecting division 2 players are almost a thing of the past. Very few get a chance. You could make it an argument MLS is a division 2 level but in the eyes of our NT coach they are just a bit better than foreign Div 2 play.

    Lately, Uly is the only one that I can think that got a chance with our NT, and at the time he was U19 division player. Since then he has moved to the bench of 1BL.

    Ream & Miazga got time with the NT even when in a 2nd division, recently. And people are clamoring for the likes of Holmes and A. Robinson to be called, also 2nd division players. Green is another 2nd division type who got time recently.

    We're not above 2nd division players. Truth be told, though, Fredo has always been a big meh for the NT.

    There are second divisions that are better than or equal to MLS. Trying to say that MLS is over them because it’s a first division is as stupid as liking someone simply because they play in “Europe”.

    hopefully, we’ll have a time when our entire team will on major league teams.

    if our coach thinks that MLS is better than the championship or materially different from B2, we’ve made a horrible mistake.

    It's about the player himself, not the team where he plays. Wales qualified for the Euro with mainly Championship and League One types, and Peru was unlucky not to survive their World Cup group with a bunch of nobodies beyond Guerrero and Farfan.

    If a second division player shows he's good, and he can adapt fast enough, then he's always welcome. Miazga, for all his defects as a player, has been quite adequate with the NT.

    It's a shame Fredo didn't get more chances to play in his actual position for the NT (not LM), but from the little we saw he was nothing extraordinary.
