Yeah, I found that surprising. I infer that it is rust. But it was startling how slow his decision making process was, and how bad his touches were. OTOH, he only got 5 minutes or so.
city had some moments looking comical trying to ping it around at the back, but after they started going they are making a meh tho mid table burnley side look like a mens league opponent. frank better get his team right on thursday or chelsea could be embarrassed at the back.
Burnley had 13 players out of 20 that had any premier league experience, and 2 of those were goalkeepers. They’re severely shorthanded, and it showed.
He learned the sport with his father, who also learned from his father, a Croatian immigrant. "Croatian background" doesn't mean he's not American.
That's crazy but it's become the standard narrative here, on Twitter and on Reddit. The two play completely different roles with the team, in fact the two have played together very often. I just don't get why people think that. PS: I think I get it. People like drama, it has nothing to do with soccer. It's quite clear Lampard likes Mount a lot, from interviews. On the other hand, there is a parallel narrative about him disliking Pulisic. Not correct, IMO, but I don't think he particularly cares about him, he was not his pick, he was there when he arrived, and only recently he's shown some more enthusiasm in interviews about him. Also, the whole affair with Pulisic saying he was 100% two days after Lampard said he was injured and they didn't know when he'd be back. Knowing people and how they like parables/soap operas, the narrative writes itself: the loved son, the rejected one. Hence, Mount is taking minutes away from Pulisic. Ha.
Just got done watching Man City destroy Burnley. I am concerned with how my boys will stand up to the test... particularly from a defensive perspective. Chelsea usually has the lion's share of the ball but this game should be different. Man City has so many good players... I think they will win the possession battle... so that leaves counter-attacking ball and I am excited to see CP making runs in space. But I would be lying if I said I was confident. Not sure they measure up. <crossing-fingers>
I've said before David Luiz would have made CP a superstar. He would pick out those early runs and drop the ball on a dime 50 yards away. Maybe Bonucci could as well.
Lol at your first two sentences. My god dude. Born and raised in small town USA. Played in England and German youth set ups.. Nothing to do with Croatian background, other than his passport.
He did? You know his grandfather was an active football fan and helped Mark with the game? My grandfather was from Ukraine/Russia and didn't know anything about the game or sports in general.
I really think a lot of people aren’t seeing this angle. The runs that Pulisic makes are very similar to the runs Promes makes. Particularly they back shoulder back post run is one I have seen Ziyech dime to him for a goal on quite a few occasions. When, Ziyech gets there I think CP takes a quantum leap in terms of productivity.
If he played like an American, he wouldn't be where he is. Sorry but our typical players cannot control a ball to save their lives.
his run was so good on that play if I remember correctly. Beautiful looping give and go and he finished near post. 17 years old. Kinda nuts that there is already another one in the pipeline, very similar trajectory, but maybe this one is better. well now I’m gonna have to go find that video. edit: here it is. Bette than I remember. I forgot that first touch around the defender.
You can take the boy out the USA... @cpulisic_10 🏀 pic.twitter.com/U4ofce5Jsr— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) June 18, 2020
He plays like the newer generation of Americans not historical. We are having younger, better, more talented youth play for higher level clubs at younger ages. Pulisic, Reyna, Sargent, Adams, McKennie, Richards, with more to come...
