I havent been here in a while, maybe thats a good thing!!! Argyle are 5 wins out of 6... the new grandstand is open... Ryan Lowe has the team buzzing... the crowds are coming back.... 4th place with a game in hand... 1 point out of 3rd
a 4 point weekend.... shouldve been a 6 if we couldve closed out tuesdays game... but...3rd place with a game in hand... we are playing well
yeah, but we rebounded.... good win vs crewe alexandria.... we have a game in hand and are playing well...
tying MTFC not a great result, but it was a mid week game so to get a point "i guess" was good... looks like its going to be a 4 horse race for automatic promotion.... i really would like to be in the top 3 obviously.. i dont need a playoff jolt to my heart...
so... we start playing well, up to automatic promotion, and we go on break for 3 weeks... ugh... but what ya gonna do? hopefully we pick right up where we left off... i think we are in 3rd now, finish strong and we are back up for D1....
I'm personally not confident the season will actually restart honestly I think this will only get worse in the US and the UK in the coming weeks. It would not surprise me if they freeze the standings and either keep everyone the same next season or crown the champions as is and use the current standings to determine who goes up and down.
We're up up up up! The only bad thing was the promotion song they trotted out on social media. Credit to the team, staff, and ownership for successfully navigating through these difficult times
Argyle played their 3rd pre-season game today losing to Middlesbrough 1-0, they previously lost to a Glasgow Rangers xi 3-2 while on a scottish retreat, their first game was a 2-1 win over local team Plymouth Parkway. They are going to play Middlesbrough again on thursday playing 3 x 30 minute games, and then on saturday they will play Forest Green Rovers. There maybe another pre-season game next week no team announced yet. Player moves Sarsevic has signed for Bolton and McFadzean turned down Argyles offer but has not signed for anyone yet. A number of players were released at the end of the season, Argyle have made 6 signings so far for the new season Frank Nouble 28 Centre-Forward $275Th. Colchester Utd. Free transfer Lewis MacLeod 26 Central Midfield $523Th. Wigan Free transfer Luke McCormick 36 Goalkeeper $220Th. Swindon Town Free transfer Panutche Camara Attacking Midfield - Crawley Town Free transfer Kelland Watts 20 Centre-Back - Newcastle U23 Loan Ryan Hardie 23 Centre-Forward $275Th. Blackpool Loan Hardie was with Argyle last season and it is a year long loan. McCormick is back for the 3rd time with Argyle Nouble is a big strong center forward Camara could be the stud of the group Macleod and Watts look very good on paper. Argyle also have Calvin Miller ex Celtic on trial Rumours that George Cooper may be back but i doubt it. Argyle`s first league game is home to Blackpool on Sept 12, before that they will play Sat 5 KO 12.30pm Queens Park Rangers (H) Carabao Cup R1 Tue 8 Norwich City U21 EFL Trophy Fixture 1
George Cooper is back permanent, signs 3 year agreement. 3 days before the first real game, this saturday v QPR in the Carabao Cup, then next tuesday Norwich city U21 in EFL Cup and then League opener home to Blackpool.
Good start to the season with a 3-2 win over Championship team QPR, in the Caeabao Cup, scoring for Argyle were Edwards, Mayor and new boy Nouble. Argyle have been drawn away to Leyton Orient and if Argyle win that game they will be home to Premier team Tottenham HotspurThe fixture against Orient will occur on either Tuesday 15, or Wednesday 16, September, with the third round occurring a week later, on either Tuesday 22, or Wednesday 23, September. Next up is Norwich U21 team in the EFL Cup tomorrow Sept 8
Argyle 2 Norwich U21 3 A very different team from last saturday 28 Camara P. 47 Canavan N. 40 Jephcott L. (Hardie R.) 41 Law R. 48 Lolos K. (Penalty) 42 Moore B. (Edwards J.) 20 Randell A. 25 Ruddy J. (G) Sawyer G. (C) (Pursall B.) 11 Telford D. 41 Tomlinson O. Substitutes 1 Cooper M. (G) 36 Craske F. 8 Edwards J. (Moore B.) 9 Hardie R. (Jephcott L.) 35 Miller C. 37 Pursall B. (Sawyer G.) This was basically a team of first teamers who did not play last saturday and academy and first year pros. We had new goalie Ruddy starting he only sighned on monday, Jephcott missed saturdays game as he was playing for Wales U21 team in a Euro competition, Canavan, Moore and Telford were Subs on Saturday and Sawyer was serving his 3rd game of his 4 game suspension. Ruddy made a very good save on a one on one but the ball bounced back to a Norwich player who scored from nearly 40 yards 0-1, then Lolos was tripped in the penalty box and he scored with the penalty 1-1. 2nd half Norwich used there speed to put lots of pressure on Argyle defence and ended going up 2-1 on a breakaway. Argyle drew level on a Telford header, again Norwich speed got them the winner. Sawyer who was able to play in this game was injured late in the game he was stretchered off, believed to be a ankle injury but no update, anyway he would not have played anyway onsaturday as that will be his final of hid 4 game suspension. The real season begins this saturday home to Blackpool.
Argyle win 1-0, Jephcott scored in the 3rd minute and Argyle hung in to defeat Blackpool who have a very good team but they could'nt break Argyle's defence, Stars for Argyle were goalie Cooper making his league debut as a starter he made 4 or 5 great saves, also Aimson who not only set up the winning goal but was also a star indefence making numerous blocks and timely tackles. M.Cooper and Aimson are like 2 new players for Argyle, even though Cooper dressed for every game last season he was always backup to League 2 goalie of the year Palmer, Aimson was injured most of last season and only played a few games. Also having good games was G. Cooper and Mayor and Camara. Next game away to Orient on tuesday 2nd round of EFL cup winner is home to Spurs.
Well if you want goals watch Argyle. With a fairly strong lineup Argyle visited League 2 team Leyton Orient last tuesday in the Carabao cup. At HT Argyle led 2-0 with goals from Watts and Camara, unfortunately the 2nd half was not good and Orient scored 3 goals with the winner in the last minute. Yesterday Argyle went to AFC Wimbledon after 16 mins Argyle took the lead through G.Cooper 2 minutes later AFC were level 1-1, but just before HT Argyle took the lead through an amazing shot by Conor Grant to lead 2-1 at HT, The 2nd half was not good for Argyle within 4 mins score was 2-2, Argyle were behind 4-2 after 69 mins. Then Argyle made 2 subs and the first sub Canavan scored with a header from a corner, and a minute later second sub Telford scored to make it 4-4, Telford nearly scored a last minute goal with a header but it skimmed the post. In their first 5 games of the season they have scored 12 goals unfortunately they have conceded 12 goals.
Since my last post Argyle have played 4 games, 3 in the league and 1 in the EFL trophy, They drew 1-1 with Connor Grant scoring, then lost 1-0 away to high flying Hull in a excellent game, after that they lost 2-0 to Cheltenham in the EFL trophy and last saturday they won 2-0 at home to Burton with Jephcott and Moore scoring. Also Argyle made 2 loan signings first was Jerome Opoku from Premier Fulham and Tyrese Fornah from Nottingham Forest. Fornah in his first match this past saturday was named Man of the Match a very impressive signing. Next game home to Northampton on saturday. Argyle currently 8th in the league.
Since the Northampton win Argyle have played 3 games, lost away to Lincoln 2-0, drew away to Wigan 1-1 and won against Doncaster at home 2-1. Argyle did not play today as their opponent Accrington had a number of players out due to Covid. Talking of Covid Argyle have had 5 players miss games because of Covid, the first was Hardie, he missed 14 days, next was Grant who was subbed at ht after not feeling well, he tested positive and was out 10 days, unfortunately his 2 team mates, who tested negative were not allowed to play and were only informed of this just before the Lincoln game, so it meant that Argyle had to play a completely new lineup with 4 players missing, the 5th player was G. Cooper who had to miss 14 days because his sister came to visit him and she later tested positive, all 5 players should be back for Argyle's next game which is next tuesday at home to Swindon.
