    Bürki
    LP Hummels Can
    Morey Brandt Witsel Guerreiro
    Reyna Haaland Hazard

Game to decide the second place.
Morey gets the start due to Hakimi's suspension. If Hakimi leaves, we need to know whether the system suits Morey (should we play a similar system next season). He has other characteristics but from the little we could see from him, he had a fine technique and the ability to evade the pressing, possibly even go for 1 on 1s.
Sancho on the bench gives Reyna the start.
It's a tough opponent for both players to get thrown in.

Surprised to see Morey, was afraid LF will find some strange solution with Schmelzer, but hope he’ll be fine. Don’t give us big chances to be #2 though, hope I’m wrong.

Haaland should have scored, followed by another big chance for him.
At least it looks better by us so far and we actually create some chances.

I would like to see Reyna and haaland and brandt continue to build some chemistry. Going to need them next year.

Leipzig defend very high in contrast to all the recent bunker teams. That has resulted in some good chances after high balls took out their defense. We should have taken advantage of that, I don't think Leipzig will continue to let that happen.
But so far, it seems to be almost a repeat of the first game against them. Barely anything from them and we seem comfortably in control.

That was a pretty good first half. The difference to how we played against Mainz is striking. And I'm not sure whether that is only due to getting more space. It looked as if the players moved more and actually want to play football. It's as if playing Mainz was a nuisance. We'll never win anything when the team doesn't realize that it's those lost points against teams like Mainz that cost us the title.

Regarding Morey, the only thing that I didn't like is that he was left alone several times in defense. LP seemed closer towards the middle with the other CBs and the winger on his side who usually helps out was missing in a couple of scenes. Insteand, both of our central midfielders had to clean that up. Not sure who of the wingers was responsible at that moment. If it was Reyna then he needs to learn that important aspect of our game. His assist was very nice though.

Wow, Morey should have scored with only 1 minute played in the second half.

Not sure why two of our CBs see the need to inject themselves into our offensive efforts.
We could have scored 4-5 goals but Leipzig have been better the last 15 minutes.

With 5 minutes to go Burki saves the 3 points with a good 1 on 1 save. Only the seconds real chances by RBL in the 2nd half

Brandt and Haaland totally gassed combine for the 2:0. The team was dead at the end.

2-0 Game secured with seconds to go. Good pass from Brandt to Haaland. Might save Favre 's job for next season? Hopefully not... Game Over

If the board is please with 2th place and doesnt have bigger ambitiona, than he is 100% staying, out pf the question..
But if the boardnis aiming for a title, he 100% isnt that guys, everyone knows that..

Last season 76 points. 2 points behind Bayern

The board then invested pretty heavily bringing in Hummels, Brandt, Schulz and Hazard plus Haaland in January.

And yet the gap to Bayern has grown to 10 points with a possible max of only 72 points. Why would the board be pleased with that?

That isn't the progress all that investment in new players was intended to produce, surely?.

Yes he needs to go. Last year the big disappointment was the cup and CL performance against Tottenham, but he didn't have a great team last year.

Reus played out of his skin and carried the team. He was incredible last year. Nobody could blame him for losing the league to even a weak Bayern. Lots of players like Sancho and Hakimi improved.

This season things were different and he had an excellent squad and first team. He was awful in all the big matches, he is too cautious too defensive and didn't really challenge for any title. It's not good enough and you won't win anything with him. He needs to go.

I dont want Favre to stay, but i really question board ambitions.
Sometimes i think the profit is the most important thing they are after, more than results.
In every normal elite club, Favre would be sacked after failing to win the BuLi with 9 points ahead with the worst Bayern in the last 10 years..

The performance in the first half was actually pretty good. The team actually pressed and played on the front foot. They were aggressive and determined to go out and win. It's the way they should approach every match.

We also saw something of the players for the future and the ones, who would not be here.

Sadly Hakimi and Sancho are almost certainly gone.

However, we should have roughly 120 million Euros for Sanco.

I think we should get Havertz, Meunier, CB and a winger.

I think Havertz has higher ambitions and could have chosen almost any club without Covid. Brandt might be a small factor in our favor though if his other options don't materialize.
I think without Götze, we might have gone after him 1-2 years ago. Now, he'll cost around 90 million and we'd need to change the system again as he's probably best as something close to a 10.

If he is patient he certainly has his pick of clubs. However, it's a good summer for us.

Few teams can afford him. We are one of the few that can afford him due to selling Sancho.

Madrid would sign Pogba or save from Mbappe#
Bayern are signing Sane and cannot afford him this summer
    Liverpool probably cannot afford him
United won't be able to afford him after signing Sancho
Juventus are unlikely to be in for him.
    Barcelona cannot afford him

PSG, Chelsea and City are our only threats.

Chelsea might not make the CL and don't really need him.
PSG and City, especially City would easily get him over us.

Yes if we signed him, we would need to switch to a 4-3-3 at least, so we could get the best out of him and Brandt.

Losing Sancho is a big blow. We have lost our special factor, the player who is extra special. We don't know how Reus returns. We need an attacking creative player with similar wow factor and Havertz is the only other one about.

haha.. i actually love that! Hummels could have scored if Hazard had made that pass.

hmm.. another negative side effect to the disastrous move for Gotze!

The commentator mentioned something interesting: The difference between us and Bayern was not seen in the last game against them, but rather in how we make each win a pain, and in the process lose countless points unnecessarily. I think we can improve on that.

Exactly, when you look at a breakdown of our fixtures last season agaist the top 9 teams on the BL table vs the bottom 9 teams then you'll see that we only lost 3 poitns (thrashing against Bayern) vs all of the top 9 teams. However, we managed to lose 11 points vs the bottom 9 teams which, in effect, lost us the title. Bayern doesn't do that and thus they are champions 8 years in a row.

When you play down to your opposition then that is to be expected.
