For those of us who can't travel to the Frisco home opener, which pub will Fire fans be meeting at to get rowdy and have a few pints??? Thanks.

while it's somewhat reasonable to be planning travel 6 months in advance i don't know of anyone who plans what bar they will visit 6 months in advance.

What's keeping you from making the trip? Also, why is it there just has to be one bar people go to? Spread it out a bit. We shouldn't be so insular.

I know where I will be.....still teaching. School doesn't get out until Jun 20! Hey my brother-in-law is travel agent, so future roadtrips that involve airfare.....would be a snap for me.

This is really, trulygreat. interested but unsure if I can go. Maybe I will buy a seat for someone else who can'not afford it.

It's really good to see the true hate for the bastards from texas take root again - tey are the scum of the earth and every chicago fan's natural enemy. And i need one of those scarves!

This planning probably couldn't start at a better time as Delta is about to drop all it's fares and some regulations on all flights in the country which is sure to move the other airlines to do the same. In addition, Southwest is working to remove the Love Field federal restriction and thus allowing direct flights to Dallas from outside the few neighboring states it is currently allowed to do so, though I don't know how long it will take to do so.

    The Wright Amendment Must Go!!!

    [Yes it's Fire related.]
And in the meantime nag your Congressman and Senator to repeal Section 29 of the International Air Transportation Competition Act of 1979, which restricts interstate flights from Love Field. (Sometimes called the Wright Amendment).
This was an amendment designed to give the Dallas Fort Worth Airport a chance to thrive. Well, it's thriving. The amendment hampers Love Field, and it hampers your choice in air fares.
It means that you can fly direct from OHare to Dallas-Fort Worth, but you can't fly from Midway direct to Love Field on a certain lower-fare airline called
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
You can fly Midway to Oklahoma city to Love Field. The Wright Amendment has got to go.
Disclaimer: Despite my rant, I am not finanically connected with Southwest Airlines, Love Field, or the City of Dallas. I just want a cheap fare and a direct flight from Midway to Love.

Exactly. I just hope if it is repealed that we don't have Colleen declaring some of us too drunk to fly. ;)

Of course, now that Dallas plays in Frisco, DFW is actually a hell of a lot closer to the stadium.

Well, you can take 121 almost right to the stadium in Frisco. But I don't think it's substantially closer as the crow flies. either way it's about 20 miles.

    Forget it.

As a direct result of the November election, there is no way I am spending any of my time or money in Texas.
    Not for the foreseeable future.

Just because it's his home state you will choose to punish yourself by skipping the opening of F*C* Dallas' stadium and thus not be supporting the Fire on perhaps one of the best away support trips ever? Frankly I find that lame, regardless of how i voted.

Not noticeably closer.....either trip will take you about 45 minutes from DFW.

Yeah, that's what I thought. 45 minutes is a little steep. Last time from the rental car center to the Cotton Bowl was 25.

But like I said it's 20 miles each way on mostly expressway.

Re: Chicago to open Frisco June 11th

To call 121 an expressway is to give it way too much credit. That's why its 45 minutes.....lots of lights. Not to mention the traffic hell that will be opening day in Frisco. The roads around the stadium won't be "match fit" until the middle of the 2006 season, at the earliest.

Wait....where am I??? The Chicago Forum??? Oh yeah...20 minutes will give you PLENTY of time to get to the stadium on gameday....plenty! :)

Rather than mucking around with renting a car and driving from the airport, what is the chance of finding a hotel near the field that offers a free shuttle?

Your concern is well-placed :) Working on group transport or an alternate option like the one you suggest.

Renting cars at DFW is a pain and two-thirds.
