    Hakimi Brandt Witsel Guerreiro
    Sancho Haaland Hazard

I like Brandt behind the front 3, maybe this helps with the creativity problem of the last game. Akanji out with muscular problems. The bench is very thin again.
Balerdi and Morey need to get more playing time, I'd like to see Raschl as well.

welp... looks like this team is going to continue down the path of underwhelming and "playing to the level of the competition" type of scenario..

Favre can only look the multitude of embarrassing losses and draws as a reason that we did not win it this year...

    God I hate the man.

    Mainz leads 1:0,
Much possession without good chances or good football. It looks just a bit better than the Düsseldorf game but we should do way better against a team fighting to remain in the league.

Yes, terrible display by the team.
If there was any credit left for Favre, these kind of dog shit games we saw recently should make the decision easy.

lets just let it sink in that Mainz is one of the bottom 4 defensive teams in the league as well and we havnt so much as challenged them once

Just embarrassing. Please put an end to this misunderstanding.
Mainz had better chances to score the 3rd goal than we had in the whole game.

Favre's time is up. Enough of this tedious football and piss weak mentality.

As I said before I’d fire him tonight. I just don’t see what more can he contribute with. With this attitude we’ll lose the last too games too.
And, when having possibility to play some youth he continues with the 1st 11. No Balerdi but Schmelzer ???

That young Mainz CB (Diakhate?) just flat out dominated both Haaland and Sancho today. Athletic with pace and strength but plays very intelligently.

Sack him. He should have been sacked last year. A team of this level is just well above his abilities.

The only bright side to this most embarrassing lost is the (hopefully) realization by the Board that we need a real coach...
Now with another big lost next week against RBL (which is almost a given at this point) and lets say we are lucky and get a tie against Hoffenheim then maybe just maybe Favre is finally out while retaining our CL qualification? Well one can dream...

Who are realistic options for next season that would be a clear upgrade and meet Dortmund's "German speaking" criteria?

For me, the only two names that make some sense are Ten Haag and Marsh. The latter is completely unproven with only one season at Salzburg which could very well tun out to be another Bosz.

Ten Haag would be the better pick of the two but I just do not see him as a great motivator that this team really need. This team needs a Felix Magath type that will kick their asses and not be afraid to lay down authority because the talent level is not the issue, it's motivation to get up for every game and consistency.

Nagelsmann would be the closest type to this scenario but I just do not see RBL letting him go what so ever.

Imo any coach that replaces Favre doesn't have to be a big name, but they do need to possess some of these traits.

    • approach all games, including big ones, with an attacking, positive mindset
    • Be more tactically flexible, proactive rather then reactive
    • Utilise squad rotation properly to help increase the depth/options by giving players like Balerdi and Morey proper experience and not running players into the ground
    • Be more motivational and ruthless. Every game, inc games v Paderborn, Dusseldorf, Mainz etc are important and need to be won. Players and fans too would appreciate a more fired up/passionate coach I think. It's about creating a positive, ambitious mood around the whole club.
The quality is there to challenge for trophies, but it needs a coach that actually believes that it's possible and is prepared to take risks to make it happen. That just isn't Favre.

    Said down to the point
I’d go even further and say that any new coach can fail too (typical example is Bosz). But we have to take a chance and be willing to adjust and play more directly. As I said before I’ve seen this (often) toothless possession play since Klopp’s last season. If we insist to play like that, we can just as well keep Favre, he’s just as slow as the game. But then we can’t expect anything at all next season.
I think it’s rather suspicious that neither Nagelsmann or Rangnick have had intentions to come to BVB. We were after both, but they chose other clubs.
What is hard for me to believe is how popular LF is among the local fan base. Is it only us in this forum that demand changes? And, maybe, together with the local fan base also the direction is satisfied with LF.

Some local fans even went as far as stating that were going to win the treble when Favre was first announced. I still can't believe some are still giving him the benefit of the doubt after choking away the title last season and an underwhelming second season.

I'm really curious about "Dormund's German speaking criteria". When and why did this come to be? Was it ever stated by someone in the front office? Or just assumed because of the history of hired coaches?

It's been stated by Watzke and Zorc on a number of occasions
