I think transfer prices are going to go back to 'normal' for the next few years. By normal, I am thinking the 2005-2015 transfers.
Marc Roca links popping up again. Seeing claims that we have agreed on a move with the player and are waiting on confirmation that his club is being relegated to negotiate a transfer fee.
Seeing reports this morning that we have contacted former PSG CB Thiago Silva about going on a free transfer this window. I'd prefer to get younger but he is still a damn good defender. Would definitely be an interesting addition if we let Luiz walk.
No danger of this happening, then. Edit: Check that. Looks like Mendes has been involved in fixing his moves before. We’re screwed.
Stan can afford it. https://www.stltoday.com/business/l...cle_cae53658-f97c-5da5-be43-293969c9ffae.html
Sure would be a shame if Arsenal beat out AC Milan and specifically Ivan Gazidis to sign Upamecano. Maybe Gazidis would like to buy Mustafi again since it would appear they are still in need of a centerback.
Suggestions for a Miki/Kluivert swap deal are popping up again. PEA calling out Arsenal RE an extension. I don't know exactly what was said but based on media reports... 1. We have made no offer attempts recently 2. He is still looking for Ozil type money
Seeing reports this morning that we have offered to triple Partey's wages that he currently earns at Atletico. Arsenal linked DM Papa Gueye that had been announced as a Watford signee a couple months ago is now reporting that he will not join Watford and there is some speculation that his change of heart may have been due to our increased interest.
Can see the thread for more, but according to Ted, Partey has been on a downward trend. Also, Ceballos’s season has been very stop starting, but the underlying data has been very good.
My guess: Partey wanted a big raise. Atletico were willing to sell if the price was right. Arsenal were interested, but the price tag at his age just doesn't make it a wise investment. So now Partey is trying to leverage Arsenal's interest for a new contract at Atletico. Arsenal should have made a decision to sell or extend Auba last summer. They failed, and now they have no good options left. I don't think Auba will decline in ability the way Ozil has, so a new contract probably wouldn't be a disaster. But it would have the effect of making him unsellable. The Miki/Kluivert swap seems like a steal for Arsenal, is there a fee involved? Trade a 31 yo for a 21 yo makes a ton of sense. Fills a hole at LW if nothing gets done with Saka :-(
I'd be ok if we opt to go in a different direction RE Partey. However, that different direction is NOT Dani. They are completely different players. If we opt to go a younger route the best option that we have been linked to is Marc Roca or Ibrahim Diallo.
