So we have a ST, Winger/CAM so far this window. Now we just need a LB.

    Álex Grimaldo or Angeliño?

The Athletic reporting that Liverpool turned down the opportunity to sign Werner due to financial issues. A lot of clubs in the same boat. Werner's release clause goes down next year and the year after and Leipzig wanted to capitalize now.

    Peanuts.

Winger now becomes a more important area for me. With Willian and Pedro likely out the door, we only ave Pulisic there. Ziyech has played winger, yes, but he's not really a winger. At Ajax, he's given plenty of license. Callum has shown flashes, but he's not nearly good enough week in and out for me. Plus, there are his legal issues.

Then there is the question of Kante. Though we've shown well in plenty of games without him, I think there is an issue there. I hope Gilmour can be consistent - he has been so far.

Left back - eh. Chillwell doesn't jazz me so much. I think Alonso is fine until we can get someone elite. Left back a hard spot, though.

disagree. want to win titles? the squad needs depth and rotation. also hungry players that are willing to fight. also Werner can play across a front 3, or as part of a striking pair. it gives options.

at one point we had Drogba, Torres and Anelka all in the squad.

despite the argument of where Ziyech is best or has played, i think for us he will play RF. but lamps is fine with interchange and overlap. him coming to the middle and combining is probably wanted.

agree on Callum, he has a whole new set of questions now which is unfortunate.

Kante may have his best days behind him. he's still a beast, but we were close to needing to look at his succession anyway. amazing dude, incredible player, doesn't mean we need to start thinking about it though. i think Kovacic is versatile enough and has played well in that area under lamps.

and i also agree that i'd like to go for it at LB and get someone that is very clearly taking the starting role for a number of years.

Werner is a pretty incredible get if it's pans out. it's looking very positive and i think he knows that he would play a ton where as at 'pool he could end up on the bench more.

Timo Werner: Chelsea agree deal with RB Leipzig forward

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52928359

usually BBC is the final word but the article doesn't look like he's signed, just that the deal has been agreed.

Looking at Werner's stats are somewhat mouthwatering.

However, the marked difference between his time at Stuttgart and Leipzig is pretty extreme.

At Stuttgart (aged 18-20) he appeared in 103 matches with only 14 goals.
At Leipzig (aged 20-24), he has literally exploded. 92 goals in 104 appearances.
    (included cups and European comp)

I've been watching him more closely since Bundesliga returned a few weeks ago and what I've noticed:

-his speed is remarkable. he'll pull players with him and create space
    -positioning around the goal
    -skill with his feet
-despite his size, doesn't care much for aerial duels

His ability to be in the right spot and make the goalscoring look easy reminds me a little of Costa. He was able to slide so many goals home when just given inches.

Tammy certainly isn't any of them (yet) but this is true.

I think the thought is that there are some reservations around if he is going to be all that great. I'm not really a believer just yet. He did well for himself but we'll see if can continue scoring.

Looks like we’re after Chillwell now. We still have roughly 50 mill left of the return on Hazard and Morata after Wener and Ziyech. Should def get that LB whether or not it’s Chillwell.

With Timo going to Chelsea...I wonder if Chelsea decide to swap any players and get players via those swaps

Jamie Redknapp has claimed Timo Werner must make Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp regret missing out on his signature when he finalises his move Chelsea

Chelsea have seemingly won the race to sign the brilliantly gifted German in the summer window after news broke that they have agreed a five-year deal worth around £175,000-a-week to bring him to the Premier League.

That is despite the fact that Werner was desperate to make the move to Liverpool but since the Reds have been holding off on a possible deal, Chelsea fans are getting excited about seeing him at the club next season.

And reacting to the rumours, ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp told football.london: ‘It’s a great signing.

RB chief exec quoted as saying no deal yet. Hopefully a formality as, with a release clause deal, the power lies with the player and if the player is set, the rest is just tidy up.

Exactly this and their executive isn't going to say he was sold the day of their match. Everyone is reporting he's agreed and that Chelsea will pay his buyout.

He certainly had his injury issues this season, however he’s nearly 4 years younger than Makélélé was when he joined us. It would be nice to move Jorginho on and play Kante at his best position. It would also help with our tendency to ship goals.

Unfortunately I think Frank is looking at a 4-2-3-1 instead of a 4-3-3.

With Timo, and hopefully Tammy staying, Timo is best in a 433/343/442.

Could see us playing a 41212 as well.

Looks like we’re asking 40 for Michy... that ain’t happening but if we can land 20-30 I’d take it and call it a day. That combine with the loan fees we’ve made off him should see the initial price paid come out to a wash.

Thiago Silva will be a free agent. Paris won't re-sign.

36, still a very good defender, but I don't see us going for him.
