RBL is shown red and he has to slide to RB. Lame. All things considered though, that was an excellent half from him at DM. Did Tyler Adams things all half long, racking up the interceptions, tackles, clearances, and being generally disruptive.
Yes, he did well even though it looks like he still doesn’t have his legs or confidence back fully. He’s just a really good player with good instincts, passing rhythm, and explosiveness and bite.
Laimer's in the match now actually. Haha you make him sound lame. He looked pretty good to me and was gliding around destroying much of what Paderborn was trying to do, even when he was pushed back. Man of the Match. I still don't know how he escaped without a penalty towards the end of the match though.
Unless I missed an arm, Adams didn't really touch the guy. It was a strange action between the two players. Today's match was a test run for future road qualifiers in CONCACAF.
Looked like they were both going for the ball. If Adams didn’t fall I think there wouldn’t be any thought that it was a penalty. Overall he did well today, at DM in particular. Almost had an assist with a nice cross that was cut out by the toe of the defender who the announcers praised for his intervention several times. He’s not quite where he was last year. I think his confidence isn’t quite there yet. Interesting how he played most of the first half at DM, most of the 2nd at RB, and then switched back to DM at the end. Shows it will be tough to keep Adams off the pitch with that versatility if he continues playing the way he does.
Any coach, GB or otherwise who didnt start a healthy TA every time just needs to be fired. Though if anyone is dumb enough to do it, it would be GB
He is much better as a defensive midfielder relative to right back. At this point he seems like he is a bit of a liability on the flank against a highly skilled winger IMO. He also doesn't seem to have much of an attacking mentality. He is a really good player that can play all over the pitch but really the sky is the limit for him as a central defensive midfielder. I also agree that he doesn't look quite as sharp as he did before the injury. He is playing well enough but just a bit of that spark is missing. Physically he seems to be back to my eyes though, which is heartening.
Weird but I have exactly the opposite opinion. Having said that, my opinion is that he should be rb/cmid/rwb with 3 cb formation, not rb in 2cb formation. The old fashioned 6 isn't a good fit for him and it would show pretty quick at higher level.
In a way. But in another, that's the spot open to him now and if he doesn't show more, he's going to get benched for good.
The level above Paderborn, for one thing. I.o.w., that team today which drew with Paderborn and Adams playing 442 dmid would have been anhilated by RM, PSG, etc.
You and Matt Doyle are the only ones who think this. Lol. I mean, and I ask this nicely, have you watched him play as a rb? he’s average at best. As a cm, he has to produce more in the final third. But he’s most definitely not a rb. Again, his hips don’t turn well enough to be a rb.
OR he is caught up field at the wrong times and is always moving narrow....most likely because he's a defensive midfielder.
I think he actually did finish the match at DM. The red card moved him to RB but it looked like he moved back during the last substitution... which was in the dying moments of the game. DId I mis-remember that? At any rate, Adams has neither been as good as he was during stretches of last season nor as poor at RB as some posit here. He continues to show why he is so highly regarded at times... particularly when playing CDM... but has yet to have a signature performance since his return. The season is almost over so I hope he shows strong to close it out. But he is still so young and I am eager to see how things work out next season.
No, you got it wrong as usual. My complete view is that outside backs (4 man back line) should be race horses and mids should be polo ponies. Adams is no race horse but he'd make a great polo pony. Doyle said Adams would be Real Madrid quality at rb. I said he was crazy. There is a huge difference between playing the "rb" Nagelsman is using with his 3cb formation at Leipzig and the Marcelo role at Real Madrid. You'll be saying the same thing before long when enough other people have said it and you can safely join the herd. Look at Real Madrid's prospect at rb, Haikimi who now plays for Dortmund. He clocked the fastest time in the Bundeslinga this season somewhere north of 37Km/hr. and he has those long legs that can get up and down the 100m pitch without too many leg repetitions. That will be ideal for their traditional 433. At the same time, you see Bayern moving Kimmich into mid and using 3 cb's with Kimmich as a right mid and Alphonso (beep-beep) Davies at lb.
