Remember how some of us said Trump is a racist and he would try to exploit the chaos to declare an emergency, unleash the military, potentially declare martial law and either postpone or suspend the elections to stay in power? We were all crazy.— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) June 1, 2020
Yup, that’s how he got the idea... Let's not forget that Trump spoke with Putin this morning. His screed today, and attack on protestors at Lafayette Park, was no coincidence.— cymbus nimrod (@CymbusN) June 2, 2020 Fvck th NYT.. Truly, Trump's decision to tear gas peaceful protestors so he can stage a 90 second photo-op in which he pretends to know how to hold a book will go down in history as the absolute dumbest moment American politics saw between 6:45 and 7:20 p.m. eastern on June 1, 2020.— Suderman (@petersuderman) June 2, 2020 1267645869370888195 is not a valid tweet id 1267638242003881984 is not a valid tweet id

This is DC. They’re the military : These are Lakota helicopters performing what’s known as a show of force, which is often conducted by low-flying jets in combat zones to scare away insurgents. A Black Hawk performed the maneuver minutes later.— Zolan Kanno-Youngs (@KannoYoungs) June 2, 2020
No helicopter would have done this at the height of the insurgency or at any point during it. Way too easy a Target. And TBH, the protesters could have thrown rocks into the blades. I wonder who approved that risk assessment?
It was video of the LAPD police chief saying that the protestors are as much to blame as the police for the death of George Floyd.
But the point is that the military, that supposedly is going to save democracy, is doing what Trump is asking them to do.

He. Didn't. Even. Go. In. The. Church. He didn't quote from the Bible he was waving around. He didn't have a pastor come out and say a prayer with him. He just ... held up a Bible?! https://t.co/XDryvA1uao— Liz Hayes (@LizHayes79) June 1, 2020
I never doubted it: Oh my god these people really went from “making me stay home is tyranny” to “there’s a curfew, police can do what they want to you if you’re outside” in less than a week.— Allen Arthur (@LissomeLight) May 31, 2020 And this is why: You know who police don't tear gas? https://t.co/lyPQ1xcr7g— Zito (@_Zeets) June 2, 2020
Calling for a Civil War? Why did he yell out the part about "YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS"?The point of the speech was for the president to announce that he would deploy "heavily armed" soldiers inside the US.Then he urgently shouted out the part reminding people that American civilians can be armed?— Rachel Maddow MSNBC (@maddow) June 1, 2020
This was all part of his campaign. The American people (well a minority of them, ******** the electoral system) voted for a guy who preached violence against dissenters and the press, and who praised dictatorships that murdered protesting citizens. The "libertarians" couldn't be bothered to unite with the Democrats against him. The possibility that he would de facto declare martial law was always there. Nobody can complain they didn't know that might be coming.
The question now is, who will defend the American people from the president?— Mkay (@JoyAnnReid) June 1, 2020

He needed a positive photo op after the pounding he took for his farcical cowardly actions yesterday. So he compounded it with even more cowardly actions. Mounted police charge. Stun grenades that the meja love to call flash bangs, tear gas and baton charges. One of the people tear gassed was the pastor of the church...FFS! Then he crawled out of his hidey hole for a photo before scuttling back to safety.
While people were reacting to stun grenades, Putin had Trump announce that he wanted into the G7 er G8.
