The asymmetry... Illinois does NOT allow open carry of weapons. WHY WASNT HE ARRESTED??? THIS IS DANGEROUS. THIS IS RACIST. THIS IS THE PROBLEM https://t.co/ZV0m2cmLnZ— Wendell Pierce (@WendellPierce) June 1, 2020 Yeah, that's slightly better but... protesters: "black lives matter"conservatives: "no quarter"liberals: "lets find a compromise...how about we shoot you in the leg" https://t.co/yaheDB3aku— Matt Binder (@MattBinder) June 1, 2020
First, how often does this happen? Second, what realistically should the police officer (or anybody) else do in such a situation?
Let's just say that everything that I've been taught in shooting/gun safety classes has me saying that that was an utterly ridiculous statement by Joe for two reasons: 1. You don't raise your weapon at anything that you don't intend to kill/destroy. 2. In the heat of the moment, hitting the comparatively large torso of a person is hard enough. Trying to aim at and hit some other, smaller part of the body (head, arms, legs) is likely going to just result in a miss. The bottom line: If you don't want to kill someone, don't raise your weapon.
The lesson of Donald Trump's life is: There is no such thing as rock bottom. So, assume that the worst is yet to come. https://t.co/xN1MnBOL0o— George F. Will (@GeorgeWill) June 1, 2020 1267537669086752770 is not a valid tweet id 1267176707640840192 is not a valid tweet id
Trump starts by saying Gen. Mark Milley, Joint Chiefs chairman, is on the call, that Milley "hates to see the way it's being handled," and Milley was been put "in charge." https://t.co/xAOXnxql5W— Travis J. Tritten (@Travis_Tritten) June 1, 2020 I don't know if it's the end of Trumpism, as in the curtains closing. But it's certainly the logical conclusion of Trumpism to be hiding in your bunker yelling at governors for being losers for not killing more people.— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) June 1, 2020
Looting: Watchdog identified 879,415 high-income nonfilers for tax years 2014 through 2016, owing an estimated $45.7 billion in taxes. Breaking: Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer just announced every single officers' body camera was NOT ACTIVATED during the shooting last night that resulted in DavidMcAtee’s death. Watching a President of the United States trying to spark a civil war. Praying that millions of people are too committed to justice and peace to take this obvious bait.— Tom Nichols (@RadioFreeTom) June 1, 2020 "Is that your bible?" a reporter asked."It's a bible," the president responded.https://t.co/ok3AA1KK4H via @salhernandez— mat honan ☀️ (@mat) June 1, 2020 This is probably unprecedented in American history...and yet, it's somewhat belated, isn't it? The fascist speech Donald Trump just delivered verged on a declaration of war against American citizens. That's a very willful misreading of Yglesias' tweet. His point was that Trump isn't even following rules in a pro forma way, and his brownshirts obeyed his illegal order.
